    121. 3 Hours in the Car and Still No Answers, over and over again. Harlee & Sherry's (her Mom) Story

🎧 Episode Show Notes When you live in a small town, getting care for endometriosis isn't just hard; it's exhausting in every sense of the word. Harlee and her mom, Sherry, know that reality better than most. With limited local doctors and almost no endo specialists nearby, they found themselves making a grueling 1.5-hour drive to the ER over and over again, just to be dismissed again and again. In this episode, Harlee and Sherry sit down together to talk about what it really looked like to fight for including Harlee's long, painful road to finally securing disability after multiple denials. Through it all, Harlee's spirit never broke, and her outlook will leave you both in tears and in awe. ⚠️ Medical Disclaimer This podcast shares personal experiences and informational resources. 120. A Different Kind of Episode: From Patient to Author, The Journey to Grateful Anyway

Today, we're doing something a little different. For years, this podcast has been a place where I've had the privilege of sharing the stories of incredible people living with endometriosis and chronic illness. Today, I thought I'd turn the microphone around and answer some of the questions you've been asking me. In this episode, I'm sharing the story behind my new memoir, Grateful Anyway: A Memoir of Small Wins and Chronic Illness. We'll talk about why I wrote it, who it's for, the chapters that were the hardest to write, and why the title Grateful Anyway has become so meaningful to me. This community has been such an important part of my journey, and I'd love to invite you to be part of this next chapter. If you know (email me: podcastthecycle@gmail.com) 🎙️ A podcast that would be a great fit 📚 A bookstore that carries local authors 📖 A book club looking for their next read 🏥 A doctor's office, therapist, or healthcare practice that would like a copy for patients ...I'd be so grateful for an introduction or recommendation. Grateful Anyway: A Memoir of Small Wins and Chronic Illness is available now through: • Amazon • Barnes & Noble Linked on my website: https://www.melissaboudreau.com/ You can also request it through your favorite local independent bookstore. If you read it and it resonates with you, leaving a review or sharing it with a friend helps more than you know.

    119. What If Endo Was the Gift? Kelsey's Journey From Daily Pain to Mental Health Therapist

🎧 Episode Show Notes Kelsey knows what it feels like to be in pain every single day, and she also knows what it takes to find meaning on the other side of it. Living with both endometriosis and PMDD, Kelsey's personal experience with chronic illness ultimately led her to become a mental health therapist, turning her hardest chapters into a career built on helping others heal. In this episode, Kelsey gets beautifully honest about the grief that comes with an endo diagnosis, the role her mom played in helping her see how much she was truly struggling, and the mindset shift that changed everything, reframing endo not as something that happened to her, but as a gift that shaped who she is. She also drops real, practical wisdom on sleep, stress, and nervous system regulation that every endo warrior needs to hear. 116. Navigating Endometriosis Differently: A Patient’s Path to Relief

🎧 Episode Show Notes In this episode, we explore Wenke's personal journey with stage 4 endometriosis and the alternative approaches she credits with improving her symptoms. Wenke shares how she adopted the Budwig Protocol and reports experiencing symptom relief since 2018. While her story is powerful and hopeful, it’s important to note that there is currently no medically recognized cure for endometriosis, and research on dietary protocols like this remains limited. This conversation is meant to spark curiosity, empower listeners to explore options with their care teams, and highlight how individualized chronic illness journeys can be. As always, we encourage listeners to do their own research, consult qualified medical professionals, and make informed decisions based on evidence and personal health needs 🌐 Guest Resources: Link to the study mentioned  Warburg-like Metabolic Reprogramming in Endometriosis: From Molecular Mechanisms to Therapeutic Approaches - PMC Budwig Protocol:  https://budwigcenter.com/about-us/ https://www.cancerresearchuk.org/about-cancer/treatment/complementary-alternative-therapies/individual-therapies/budwig-diet https://www.mskcc.org/cancer-care/integrative-medicine/herbs/budwig-diet-01 https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3257729/  Website: http://www.wenke-langhof.com  YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@wenkelanghof  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/wenkelanghof/   Wenke's Book: https://a.co/d/0178z88G Balboa press bookstore: https://www.balboapress.com/en-gb/bookstore/bookdetails/851985-from-endo-war-to-inner-peace   ⚠️ Medical Disclaimer This podcast shares personal experiences and informational resources. 115. Frustration, Invisibility, and Endometriosis: How a Lack of Awareness Inspired a Book of Poems

📌 Medical context disclaimer: see below. In this episode, Carey shares her personal journey with endometriosis, the years of pain, misdiagnosis, and the frustration she felt at how little awareness there is around this chronic condition. What started as a struggle became creative fuel, inspiring Carey to write a book of poems that give language to experiences many people know all too well. Find Carey here: IG @careylinnae Careysalerno.com Carey also mentions something a doctor told her: that endometriosis can lead to cancer later in life. While some research has observed associations between certain types of endometriosis and increased ovarian cancer risk, we include this conversation to acknowledge the fear many patients experience and to encourage informed discussions with medical professionals. 📌 Medical context disclaimer: Some studies suggest that people with endometriosis,  particularly more severe subtypes, may have a higher relative risk of certain ovarian cancers compared to those without endometriosis. Research is ongoing, and it has not been established that endometriosis directly turns into cancer.
