    In this vlog I cover the Exciting News of Harvard Divinity School hosting a centenary conference on Rudolf Steiner, and many of my colleagues and friends are presenting! I grew up in a home where Steiner's books lived on the shelves and fairy tales, myths and legends were my daily bread. Country fields, trees, color, and sky shaped my inner life and eventually my work as a painter, mentor and life coach.  So when I see Harvard gathering theologians, teachers, artists, bio-dynamic farmers, anthroposophical doctors, educators, therapists sharing their research and initiatives I feel deep gratitude. I also place the Harvard gathering inside a wider story of Steiner's presence in culture.  I look back at Eric Utne's contribution bringing Steiner's work to global awareness on Steiner's initiatives, I also share how "movie stars" Paul Newman's family and Jennifer Aniston carry Waldorf schooling and a rich artistic upbringing into their public lives.     How I Left Everything for the Transformative Arts M.A. — and Then 9/11 Changed My Path as an Artist

    In 2000, I have a BIG dream, I leave my partner, my hometown and my work with men and women's groups and shamanic practice. I move to Berkeley for the Transformative Arts MA program. Then 911 happens and all I can think of doing is making dolls for the children who lost their parents with the loss of the two towers.  Dolls for Peace: Kids in Need of a Cuddle for Oakland Children's Hospital. I start gathering people—friends, neighbors, students, elders, anyone who feels called to show up. We sit around shared tables with piles of fabric, thread, buttons, yarn, and scraps of imagination. The room always feels alive. People talk, laugh, concentrate, and reach for more materials as the dolls slowly take shape.  In conjunction with CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL-OAKLAND I curated a year long community arts project called DOLLS FOR PEACE: KIDS IN NEED OF A CUDDLE. We made 100+ Dolls for the children- such a huge community turn out! What begins as a simple handmade doll becomes something larger. I watch how each person pours a little of themselves into the work. I watch how strangers start talking like old friends. I watch how art—small, humble art—creates connection, warmth, and shared purpose.  This is part Two in the Business of Art series from my Voyager membership community.
