Darius brings hands-on experience building community, creating year-round founder support, and connecting entrepreneurs with resources, relationships, and capital. Together, the panel examines what makes a healthy innovation ecosystem in 2026. They describe healthy ecosystems as networks built on flow, collaboration, alignment, shared vision, and the right balance among founders, investors, universities, policymakers, entrepreneur support organizations, researchers, and other stakeholders. They also explore why ecosystem building is long-term work and why entrepreneurs themselves must play a central role in sustaining it. The conversation then turns to how entrepreneur support organizations can find their unique value in a crowded landscape. Rather than building programs around assumptions or familiar formats, the panel argues that organizations should begin with the real needs and gaps in their local ecosystem, understand the founder journey, strengthen handoffs, and invest in the relational infrastructure connecting entrepreneurs to capital, customers, talent, institutions, and one another. The panel also challenges several common elements of startup programming. Founders can become "overcoached and underfunded," and workshops, mentorship, and demo days can consume time without producing meaningful opportunities. A successful program should avoid over-programming founders, create valuable connections throughout the experience, and ensure that momentum continues after the final showcase. Artificial intelligence adds urgency to the conversation. As AI and vibe-coding tools allow entrepreneurs to test ideas, build products, and begin selling faster, traditional accelerator and incubator models may need to evolve. The panel considers how entrepreneur support organizations can meet founders where they are, provide more personalized support, and adapt programs to a world changing much faster than conventional funding cycles and program structures. A central theme is the difference between outputs and outcomes. It is easy to count events, participants, mentorship hours, and demo days. It is much harder, and more important, to measure trust, relationship value, successful handoffs, access to capital, business growth, and community impact. Amy explains Ecosystem Edge's approach to evaluating multiple stakeholder groups through spheres of control, influence, and interest, offering a framework for understanding how ecosystem work contributes to longer-term results. Finally, the group addresses collaboration among entrepreneur support organizations that may also compete for limited funding. Genuine collaboration requires honest dialogue, clear roles, shared value, and investment in the "invisible infrastructure" that holds an ecosystem together. The panel argues that this connective work should be defined, funded, measured, and treated as core ecosystem-building work, not as something organizations are expected to do on the side. Throughout the discussion, Jamilah, Amy, Ty, and Darius offer practical insights for accelerator leaders, incubators, economic development organizations, universities, funders, investors, and community builders seeking to design programs that do more than generate activity.
