Planet E and Me is an upbeat look at how everyday people can help the planet. This monthly podcast is 30 to 45 minutes in length and consists of storytelling, a song, and an interview. Each featured guest is asked to challenge themselves to “step up” or “stretch out” in terms of environmental action – building on their interest in the environment to undertake a project with even greater impact.     Inspired to Learn with Featured Guest John Crand

    In this episode, John Crand shares how a love of learning inspired his interest in the environment.  He discusses his childhood memories: planting a garden; seeing a polluted river; and attending 4H camp.  He talks about how these memories impacted his choices in life.     Coal Mining - Moving On with Gail Herman

    In Episode 104 of the Planet E and Me Podcast, meet Dr. Gail Herman.  Gail worked on a project back in the early 1990s gathering the oral histories of coal miners in Garrett County, Maryland.  The project is named Coal Talk and some of the collection is available at WHILBR.   In this episode, Gail shares the stories of a couple of the miners and we also hear audio clips from the miners themselves.  We learn a bit about what was good about the mining life and what wasn't.  The show also touches on why it is important to transition from coal and to help fossil fuel based communities transition to greener economies.

    The Planet E and Me Podcast is all about ordinary people taking actions of significance in order to help the Earth. In this episode of Planet E and Me, we explore the issue of waste.  We start off with a story from my childhood.  Then after sharing a song, we talk to octogenarian, Bruce Morris.  He shares a bit about his life growing up in the 1940s and 1950s and his views on how to reduce waste.
