    Final Girl Ice Cube

    There’s no Ezra this week, beloved listeners, so Helena and Matty decided to use this time to catch up on what we’ve seen in a very long overdue What We Sneep episode! Matty goes first (as they have less to cover, per usual), which includes covering their month of renting multiple dvds before watching two movies back to back that were so bad they just stopped watching movies full stop. They also played a lot of Skyrim, which they do not recommend. Helena goes next, covering a much wider group of films across a variety of genres, most of which were actually good and didn’t make her stop watching movies. This does include several Looney Tunes shorts, which she DOES recommend! The episode takes a turn at the end to complain about fandom, capitalism, and how media companies really just want your money and won’t really give you what you want in the end because they just see you as money making machines. Yippee! Our duo also watched Anaconda (1997) together. No they have not seen the remake. Yes they do spend a lot of time this episode talking about Anaconda. Brace yourselves.

    A Little Bit of the Marvel Disease

    Quick everyone, imagine John Cena’s entrance theme in your mind. Got it playing? Great, because we’re pulling a Remake Rumble out of the Hiatus Vault - this week, it’s time for a three way match covering all things Magnificent Seven! This episode covers the Akira Kurosawa’s original Seven Samurai (1954), The Magnificent Seven (1960), and The Magnificent Seven (2016), as well as a brief detour into A Bug’s Life (obviously). There’s complaining, appreciation for attractive actors, love of some good movies, and bad math. Put in your bets for the winner of the Rumble before you listen, and let us know if you disagree after you listen! We always love a spirited debate (as if that was obvious after 135 episodes of podcasting) .There’s also a special guest on this episode: Matty’s cat, Mortimer. If you listen closely, you can hear him scream in this episode. If you can give us the timestamp of the kitten yelling I don’t think we have something to send you but you’ll get to hear a cute kitten sound, so that’s nice!

    Must Love Horses and Independent Film

    This week we have an episode out of the Hiatus Vaults, beloved listeners - episodes recorded during our hiatus that were never published. This one is in homage to the late great Robert Redford, recorded shortly after he passed away last year. After a very old What We Sneep, the Sneople go over his career in depth, including their personal favorites and their dads’ personal favorites (thanks, dads of Sneople). Beyond that, they cover what made him such an appealing actor, how inspiring they found him as a person, and how devastatingly handsome he was. Sorry, blonde men everywhere - none of you can compete with the original. Shout out to horse girls everywhere, we lost a real one.Also shout out to everyone who watched The West Wing and All The President’s Men and believed there could be honor in politics. lol.

    The Helena Awards 2025

    Welcome back, beloved listeners! It’s been an odd several months for the Sneople schedule, but we are back on track - you know there was no way we were gonna miss the Helena Awards! We skip What We Sneep this episode to get right into the action - there is a 44 slide presentation to get through, and a lot of new fun categories to unpack. There’s some old classics (looking at you, Tex Avery Awooga Wolf Award), new favorites (which I won’t spoil), and of course the classics covered in every good awards show. There’s also a surprising amount of overlap with the Oscars from this year - shocking, we know. Also for those viewing this on our website (infinitybreak.net, winkwink), sorry for the pic of the scary kid. But we did talk about it a lot in the episode, so it only felt right to include it. If you want to see the slideshow itself on top of listening to talk through it (sometimes after clicking through too many slides), it will be uploaded to our patreon!     Warhammer DNA

    It’s been a while since we’ve done an Unusual Double Feature, one of our favorite episode themes, so we are long overdue! This time though, it feels a little less unusual and a little more like a movie blind date - this week, we’re pairing up Sunshine (2007) and Event Horizon (1997)! This is more of a blind date because, like many couples who get set up by other people, these movies seem very similar on the surface: films set in space about going out towards unknown horizons with horror elements and multiple actors that the Sneople enjoy. The surface level is never enough for our hosts, of course, and it’s on a deeper dive that we start to see the real differences between these two cult classics - once of which being that one is better than we remember and one is. not as good as we remember. Maybe this blind date won’t work out after all. Warning: there are spoilers abounds for both movies this episode but also Event Horizon is from the last century and Sunshine came out almost 20 years ago so we don’t feel too bad about it.

    Hitting You Like a Sack of Wet Mice

    This week on Sneople, the Sneople cover a genre proves a little tricky to define, spans movies, tv, books, and comics, and incites an argument (or two) amongst our hosts - Urban Fantasy! This episode starts, as many do, with definitions - what exactly makes an urban fantasy movie, and how is it different from straight up monster movies or something with fantasy elements that takes place in modern times? After a quick but decisive discussion, the Sneople move onto some of their favorites of the genre, dig through multiple lists of “urban fantasy” media to decide if they actually count as part of the genre, and get into why it’s so hard to make urban fantasy work on film. They also, as always, get severely off topic, look at a lot of weird wiki pages, and learn about new weird stuff that they now obviously have to read/watch. Not necessarily in that order. If you disagree with their definition of urban fantasy and/or want to submit recs for good urban fantasy to read or watch, their email inbox is always open. Keep in mind that they are extremely right about what urban fantasy is, but arguing is still fun anyway!

    Forever Your Kale

    Long delayed but also long in the making, this week the Sneople are finally doing a David Lynch memorial episode! Helena and Matty go a little off the deep end this episode (as they do every episode they’re left to their own devices), covering Mulholland Drive, Blue Velvet, Twin Peaks, Eraserhead, Elephant Man, Dune (obviously) and so so much more. Warning, this episode is full of spoilers/discussion of a variety of Lynch films (though we avoid Twin Peaks spoilers for the most part) - if you wanna avoid that, come back at a later date. It’s okay! We’ll wait. Thanks David - we’ll be appreciating your work for years and years to come. XOXO to eraserhead baby, we love you little angel
