This podcast It is so addicting, I expect any day for it to garner specific mention in an updated Word of Wisdom proclamation, right next to energy drinks and bubble gum vapes.
If you're new to Mormonism or if you've grown up with the ultra-filtered, perfect-and-odor-free narrative of church history, this podcast is a refreshingly real portrait of a people, warts and all. It's rich and representative, celebrating the everyday experience alongside the grand and aggrandized main characters. I love its respect for the Mormon experience across divides and wherever stories are found.
Brian has a gift. He's an alchemist, masterfully weaving Mormon deep tracks, pop sprinkles, and Xennial references. You’ll be deep in the wagon ruts and suddenly catch an Alanis lyric or a Goonies nod, and the world just makes more sense. He gives off chill BFF vibes—which is impressive, considering he seems to know something about everything. In anyone else, that might feel like a trivia trap, but Brian’s humor and easygoing style make it completely engaging.
Lindsay, as always, fearlessly defends the oppressed and underrepresented. While she checks her biases, her zesty personal opinions still shine through with as much tang as her canned pickled apples…a breath of fresh air in a world of applesauce. She is a warrior princess in the Mormon space!
On this podcast, it's okay to have different opinions, come to different conclusions, and even to tell a different version of a well-known tale. At all times, there's a love and respect for history, integrity, and, at its core, for people and all their flaws. I love this podcast for the facts and narratives, the untold stories, the inspiring sagas of our predecessors and, let’s face it, for the pure, unadulterated privy dirt. Highest degree of the highest kingdom, 10/10 in my book of judgment.
