Fix it today

The most important thing a historian must do is to challenge their own biases and attempt to mitigate them. That does not happen here. In fact, they lean into them. The ongoing joke about disliking Brigham Young is a perfect example. Historians should recognize that there is a personal bias on this point and adjust for it. Doesn’t happen here. It’s the exact same thing that they often criticize believing Mormons for doing. It is interesting at times, but overly self important while refusing to attempt to be even keeled. Either be more casual and become opinion based or adopt the standards of the historian’s craft. Can’t do both effectively.

As a Taylor Swift fan obsessed with Mormon history, I feel like this podcast was made for me :) Binged every episode over the last three weeks. Love the research you’ve done and the jokes included. I was on a run when you said to stop what you’re doing and Google a pic of Hosea Stout. I was laughing out loud at the squirrel strangler himself.
