    Family Annihilations

RG 2026 Episode 9 Family Annihilations- Some content in this podcast maybe upsetting to survivors of gun violence. Imagine an American College town on the Southern Shore of the Lake Erie, named for the indigenous people who once called it their home. This is Erie Pennsylvania, where a shooter murdered his family and their friends, including his wife, adult children and grandchildren and two others who tried to intervene on October 9,2026. We remember the victims in this episode’s In Memoriam. In a country where guns are more accessible than mental health care, these incidents of unthinkable tragedy and scale have become more and more frequent. Radio GAG interviews Devin Hughes, founder of GV Pedia and author of The Myths we Carry: An Advocate’s Guide to the Gun Debate, in this episode for Domestic Violence Awareness month. Together we explore the mindset of these killers, the frequency of these incidents, and what strategies could be used to effectively bring these killings to an end. And Gays Against Guns doesn’t stop with the podcast. Join us in the streets for our ICE Killings Action in Time Square October 25th and at the Yonkers Film Festival Screening of Gays Against Guns, the Movie November 12. OCTOBER IS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH. In the United States, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner. During one year, this equates to more than 10 million women and men who suffer physical abuse in some form. Partner abuse can take the form of emotional coercion, threats, and stalking, up to physical violence and murder. When guns are involved, a woman's risk of being killed increases by 1000 percent.
