    COME AND SEE PODCAST | Episode 2 | Dr. Max Butterfield

    When the disciples of John asked where Jesus was staying, he simply responded with "Come and see." When Phillip told Nathanael about Jesus of Nazareth, Nathanael asked if anything good could come from Nazareth, and Phillip simply said, "Come and see." This short, simple invitation is loaded with anticipation and potential. Come and see for yourself so that you experience it and then go and speak about it in your own words. During this season, R.O. Smith is hosting a podcast in which we will explore what it means to really "see" others, and to live in such a way that we can experience one another's stories. In the process, we will examine where God is in the story and how He is moving, and invite others to "come and see" God at work.  This week, RO meets with Dr. Max Butterfield to examine the research on AI, and the benefits and challenges it puts on what it means to be human and to be authentically seen.

    COME AND SEE | "Come and See How the Land Produces"

    One of the first things Jesus did in his public ministry was invite people to become his disciples. In the first chapter of John's gospel, he used the phrase "come and see" as part of that invitation. To "see" means to observe and listen within a specific real-world context and this fall we will specifically be looking at the character of the land in the Bible. This morning, Pastor Karla examines what happens when  the land receives rain. When the land receives rain from God, it does not try to pay back the rain. It lets the rain soak in all the way down, and then it responds to the rain by its growth and by becoming sustenance and hope for someone else.     COME AND SEE | "Come and See a Foreign Land"

    One of the first things Jesus did in his public ministry was invite people to become his disciples. In the first chapter of John's gospel, he used the phrase "come and see" as part of that invitation. To "see" means to observe and listen within a specific real-world context and this fall we will specifically be looking at the character of the land in the Bible. This morning, we join the story of the Israelites while they are in exile. We peek into their deep grief over the loss of the land promised to them, and how God meets them in their grief, even though it was of their own doing. Through this story, Pastor Karla shows us that seasons of grief can be disorienting, but God is not confined to one season (or place). Rather God uses place to form people.     COME AND SEE | "Come and See When the Land Breaks"

    One of the first things Jesus did in his public ministry was invite people to become his disciples. In the first chapter of John's gospel, he used the phrase "come and see" as part of that invitation. To "see" means to observe and listen within a specific real-world context and this fall we will specifically be looking at the character of the land in the Bible. Have you ever looked around at different events or happenings in the world and thought you yourself, "Something is not right"? Whether it's broken relationships/marriages, fractured families, messy politics, or environmental disasters, we all have had that feeling before. What about when the land bears witness to the fact that something isn't right? This morning, our Digital Content Producer and Worship Leader, R.O. Smith, discusses the passage found in Hosea when the land bears witness to God about the sin of the people of Israel. The land degrades under the weight of injustice and reflects the spiritual condition of people under the weight of sin.     COME AND SEE | "Come and See a Cultivated Land"

    One of the first things Jesus did in his public ministry was invite people to become his disciples. In the first chapter of John's gospel, he used the phrase "come and see" as part of that invitation. To "see" means to observe and listen within a specific real-world context and this fall we will specifically be looking at the character of the land in the Bible. God did not just give the Israelites the land, but he loaded it with potential and possibility. He called them to cultivate it and work it for both now, and the future as well. Land that is cultivated is a long, slow process and it involves participation, not just Divine intervention.     COME AND SEE | "Come and See the Wilderness"

    One of the first things Jesus did in his public ministry was invite people to become his disciples. In the first chapter of John's gospel, he used the phrase "come and see" as part of that invitation. To "see" means to observe and listen within a specific real-world context and this fall we will specifically be looking at the character of the land in the Bible. Have you ever looked at your wilderness seasons or times in your life as acts of Gid's grace? Have you ever been thankful during times of hopelessness and spiritual dryness because you knew your character and identity were being shaped in those times? Yeah, same here. It's hard for us to see life in the wilderness as a training ground for identity formation. Yet, that is is exactly what it is. God uses harsh environments to form our identity around Him.     COME AND SEE | "Come and See an Alternative Land"

    One of the first things Jesus did in his public ministry was invite people to become his disciples. In the first chapter of John's gospel, he used the phrase "come and see" as part of that invitation. To "see" means to observe and listen within a specific real-world context and this fall we will specifically be looking at the character of the land in the Bible. This week, we continue to look at how the land shaped the live and theology of the people of God, and what we can learn from their land. This morning, we fast forward in the story to when the people of God were about the enter the Promised Land, and Moses was giving them final instructions.
