    Former Dial-a-Ride users left feeling neglected by the City of Cape Town

    For many disabled people living in Cape Town, the Dial-a-Ride service was the only way for them to get to work, hospital, or to see loved ones, but due to budget shortfalls the City of Cape Town announced in August 2025 that it would have to limit the access to those who are in wheelchairs or with severe walking impairments. That process was halted following an urgent court application made by the Western Cape Network on Disability, which brought a sigh of relief to those who would no longer quality. Now, just over a year later, users say that they have been left out from the service either by being removed from the list of users, or due to increased fares.
