News; game: Guess the TV show by the audio;  how do you feel about hosting montly dinner parties; goodbye/fun facts....national Boston creme pie day...the dessert that's not quite a pie, yet not exactly a cake. When  in 1856 French chef Monsieur Augustine Francois Anezin created a masterpiece by layering two rounds of golden sponge cake with a thick, velvety vanilla custard. To finish, he draped the entire creation in a rich, glossy chocolate glaze for The Parker House Hotel (now the Omni Parker House Hotel) in, of course, Boston  in those days cakes and pies were baked with the same kinds of pans, and even the words were used interchangeably. As a result, the Boston cream pie kept its old-fashioned name, in addition to its delicious flavor.

Many of them are used in cooking, eaten raw, sprouted, or roasted as a snack food, and pressed for oil that is used in cookery and cosmetics. Many nuts are excellent sources of vitamins E and B2. They are also rich in protein, folate fiber, and essential minerals such as magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, copper, and selenium. Walnuts can be traced back to 10,000BC – making them the oldest tree food...but today, from a culinary/edible perspective, there are about 25 to 35 major edible nut types globally...so grab a handful for your health.

News; game: everybody knows; what's your 'I'm not proud of this...but I love this snack'!; goodbye/fun facts....Pumpkin Cheesecake is a delightful dessert and a perfect blend of texture and taste. Imagine a velvety base of rich cream cheese, sugar, and eggs, infused with pumpkin purée and a warm medley of spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove. This luscious filling is often nestled in a buttery crust made from graham crackers or crushed cookies. Cheesecakes can be dated as far back as the 5th century B.C. when the ancient Greeks made them with cheese pounded with honey and flour. The cheesecake was then elevated in late medieval England, where it emerged with a tart-like pastry base. It spread rapidly across the region. Given its popularity in England, cheesecake soon made an appearance in American colonies---American cheesecake truly took a new form when cream cheese was introduced. Bakers went on to experiment with an endless array of different flavorings and toppings — blueberry, strawberry, chocolate — and along the way, the pumpkin cheesecake was born.

Food is a basic need, and experiments with food have been going on for thousands of years. In the first century A.D., a Roman gourmet called Marcus Apicius wrote the world's first cookbook. His book was known as "The Art of Cooking." The book contains more than 400 recipes--flash forward hundreds of years later...In 1765, A. Boulanger opened the first business in Paris that was called a restaurant. The sign above his door said 'restoratives,' or 'restaurants,' which referred to the soups and broths that were being offered on the menu. The word 'restaurant' then took on the meaning, 'a public eating place.'

This day celebrates the joy of expanding your social circle and the profound benefits of fresh perspectives. Make a plan to introduce yourself to someone new, join a local club, or reconnect with an acquaintance to deepen your bond. Today is a great day to take stock of the current friendships in your life. Make sure that all of your friendships are mutually beneficial. Are you being a good friend to the people closest to you? Are they doing the same for you? News; did you ever take your parents car without their knowledge? did your kids ever try that stunt?; game: name these celebrity voices; things that should've been invented by now (list) News; wouldn't it be nice to have a reference of what to buy and when? now you can; game: Shawshank Redemption trivia; goodbye/fun facts....national department store day...Trade has always been a driving force in human history and shopping is an integral part of the modern lifestyle. Due to competition and globalization, the prices came down and people were able to afford more products. A consumer-friendly market setup, coupled with an increase in demand and supply, gave rise to the first department stores---with the one of the first ones in America, Macy's, opening in 1858. It was followed by Bloomingdale's in 1872 then Nordstrom in 1901 and JC Penney in 1902...Department store windows were transformed into magical stages. Elaborate, artistic displays lured passersby with the latest fashions and fantastical scenes, especially during the holidays.  visit your favorite department store, even if it's just to browse.

News; do you keep any clothes from 'sentimental' reasons? what about your kids' clothes; game: 80's and 90's trivia;  goodbye/fun facts....I Love Lucy Day...celebrates the trendsetting sitcom of the same name--the show premiered on this day in 1951 and lasting until May of 1957, the hilarious comedy spearheaded by Lucille Ball as the bubbly, aspiring-star Lucy, and her real-life husband Desi Arnaz as singer and bandleader Ricky Ricardo took America by storm. It was the first sitcom to be shot in 35mm film in front of a live audience, those were real laughs we were hearing, not canned laughter. Three cameras were used simultaneously to shoot the show, allowing three different angles for each scene. Today reruns of I Love Lucy are broadcast on several late-night networks, such as the Hallmark Channel, TBS, Nick and Nite, and TV Land, as well as many streaming sites. It is credited to be the longest-broadcasted TV show of all time.

Dust off your mixing bowls, explore new recipes, and share your delicious creations with friends and family. The Ancient Egyptians baked bread with yeast, but bread baking as we know it began in Ancient Greece around 600 B.C. when enclosed ovens were invented. The Roman empire was known for its love of baking pastries and treats. Eventually, Europe and Asia caught up on baking. By the 13th century in London, baking was a commercial trade. Baking allows people to express their creativity. It is also said to relieve stress.
