At first, I was like, “Can I objectively review a podcast if I have already been a guest?” But then I thought about it, and realized that the fact that I went on it was already an endorsement. After all, why would I try to become a guest on a show I didn’t like? I don’t have that kind of time or energy.
Anyway, I love the banter that Nick, Travis, and Francie have. And as a relatively recent transplant to St. Louis, I credit this show with giving me helpful insights on enjoyable restaurants as I explore this city’s fantastic food culture. I don’t like to cook, but I love to eat, and food is always a great way to connect to a place. I really credit this show with helping me settle into life in St. Louis. They even convinced me to try a few places I didn’t think I’d like!
I also love that they produce a reasonable amount of content (people who put out 3 episodes a week . . . how do you have that kind of time???), and it’s got amateur vibes. It’s a throwback to the original days of podcasting, when people were creating shows for the now-defunct iPods. As an elder millennial, I appreciate this DIY approach.
