    The Problem of Faith — Receiving God’s Grace and Gift | Carl Mutzelburg

    Pastor Carl explores the nuances and misunderstandings surrounding Christian faith, reassuring believers that faith is not a self-generated mental effort or a performance to produce miraculous outcomes, but a gracious gift initiated and perfected by God. Addressing the quiet guilt and pressure many experience when struggling with doubt or unanswered prayers, he explains that scripture reveals God Himself—rather than the strength of our own belief or specific desired results—as the true object of our faith, while our deep longings for breakthrough and healing rest in hope for His promises. He emphasizes that faith is received by positioning ourselves to hear God speak through His written and quickened Word, removing all human boasting and liberating believers from self-reliance. Acts 11 — Barnabas is highlighted as a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and faith, through whose ministry many were brought to the Lord. Romans 4:18 — Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed, becoming the father of many nations. Romans 10:17 — Faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ. Ephesians 2:8–9 — Salvation comes by grace through faith, and it is a gift from God, not from ourselves, so that no one can boast. Philippians 1:29 — Believers are granted not only to believe in Christ but also to suffer for Him. Hebrews 11:1 — Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. Hebrews 11:8 — By faith, Abraham obeyed when called to go out to a place he would later receive as an inheritance, going without knowing where he was going. Hebrews 12:2 — Looking unto Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith.

    Keeping Our Eyes on Jesus When the Waves Crash | Christine Wood
