First episode review.
Other than one big audio hiccup, I thought the podcast sounded pretty good. The rapport between the hosts worked pretty well for me, and they both seemed pretty fun.
The one host has played borderlands before, and the other hasn’t. This could be a really interesting dynamic if the host actually remembered much about borderlands.
To list a few things he:
1. Could barely remember shock was strong against shields
2. Was barely sure which console borderlands started on
3. Couldn’t remember that Gaige is a girl while playing the character.
4. Couldn’t pronounce fl4k even though the series mascot is CL4P-TP (the character leak from March has it spelled FLAK) 😭
5. Apparently hasn’t played all the games even though he’s the expert.
The one segment breaks down characters in depth. I assumed they’d start with a character like claptrap, since he has a lot of history . Instead, they broke down the new vault hunters which are such blank slates the “expert” host barely knew fl4k’s name and had no idea what Zane’s ability might do.
They reported the new radiation element as the nuclear element instead. They also were somehow annoyed that slag required gun swapping, but excited for radiation which reportedly gives a similar debuff....which would still require gun swapping unless balanced better.
I’m excited as can be for a borderlands podcast and will definitely keep listening, but these two have to step up on their content and accuracy of said content.
