Episode 48 | Part 2, Breaking the Stick: Freedom from Spiritual Abuse and Manipulation

Episode Description In this episode (Part 2 of 2) of The Dreams Lady, Maria talks about spiritual abuse, manipulation, fear-based loyalty, and what happens when spiritual authority stops serving love and starts protecting power. Through personal testimony, kingdom theology, and the image of “breaking the stick,” this episode exposes the double binds that keep people trapped in unhealthy religious systems. This is not an episode about dishonoring leadership. It is about discerning when leadership has become control. It is about remembering that Christ is your covering, Abba is not afraid of your questions, and leaving an unhealthy system is not the same thing as leaving God. Show Notes In this episode, we discuss: What spiritual abuse is and how it shows up in churches, ministries, and religious communities The difference between healthy correction and manipulation How “covering,” “submission,” “honor,” and “unity” can be used to silence people Why forced tithing contracts and fear-based giving are red flags How leaders can use dreams, prophecy, and “God told me” language to protect their own visibility What a double bind is and why spiritually abusive systems use them Why breaking the stick means refusing the false premise Why leaving an unhealthy church is not leaving God The gospel as union, reconciliation, sonship, inheritance, and freedom Content Note This episode includes discussion of spiritual abuse, manipulation, church harm, fear-based leadership, and religious control. Episode 47 | Seeing God in People & Identifying the Trinity in Your Dreams

Episode Summary In this episode, we explore why God often appears as people in dreams and how this fits within a biblical, Trinitarian framework. Instead of seeing dreams as abstract or confusing spiritual experiences, we look at how God communicates relationally, through familiar forms and attributes. Using Isaiah 11 and the seven spirits of God, we discuss how different qualities of the Spirit—wisdom, counsel, might, understanding, and more—can appear through dream characters. We also talk about how Jesus may appear as a companion or family member in dreams, and how family symbols like in-laws can represent inherited belief systems. This episode offers a grounded, relational approach to dream discernment, along with reflective pauses and journaling prompts to help you engage with your own dreams more deeply. Reflection Questions You can journal through these after listening: Who appeared in the dream, and what role do they play in your life? What quality or attribute stood out most in the dream? Did the dream feel safe, stretching, confusing, or peaceful? What beliefs in your life feel inherited rather than chosen? Which expression of God feels most present to you right now: Father, Son, or Spirit? Scripture References Isaiah 11:2 – The seven spirits of God Genesis 1:26 – Image and likeness Romans 8:29 – Firstborn among many brothers John 14:16–17, 26 – The Comforter and Helper Next Steps If this episode resonated with you: Revisit a dream you’ve dismissed in the past. Write down the people who appeared and the qualities they carried. Look for the attribute of God being revealed.
