Episode 203: From Pages High - Almost Honest: Sydney's story

Turning, she almost dropped the platter when she saw that one of the visitors had followed her to the kitchen and was standing in the doorway watching her. Sydney wondered if he wanted to steal her watch; it was a valuable piece. Mustering up her most practised kind smile, she put her hand to her chest and spoke, "Oh , you scared me! How can I help you?" She kept her smile in place, waiting for him to answer. For a second she didn't think he would, and felt her lips begin to shake. How long was she supposed to keep smiling? But when he finally spoke, she felt the blood drain from her face and her smile disappear completely. "You don't need to pretend you know," he began, his eyes boring right into her. "There's no one around. I know you don't like us being here. The only reason I came was that Ms. Jenny has shown me a Jesus who forgives and accepts me. She's genuine, and I came to meet her God. I knew they'd be people who would look down at us; they always do, in and out of church, but I don't care. You, however? You're good, smiling and welcoming, preparing food being the perfect Christian. You play your part very, very well, but you're lying through your teeth to everyone, especially to yourself. Do you think I need help? Look in the mirror, you're doing more harm than good." Then he turned and walked away.                                  ______________________________________________________ Join us as we dive into the story of Sydney's story  - the modernised story of Sapphira found in Acts 5:1-11. Episode 201: The Danger of Half-Truths - The story of Sapphira

Hey GIGI girls, Today we have a brand-new story for you - we are looking at a woman in the Bible found in the New Testament. She was married to Ananias, and they both made a terrible mistake. You can find their story in your Bible in Acts 5: 1-11. Here is a sneak peek....                             A small leather bag filled with coins lay on the table between them. Ananias paced back and forth.  Sapphira watched him. Her stomach fluttered. "We have to decide now," he said, voice low and urgent. They had sold a field—something many believers had been doing to support the new church. The generosity was incredible, and people admired it deeply. Barnabas had given a magnificent gift just the week before, and his name was on everyone's lips. Sapphira's eyes dropped to the bag of coins. "Are we truly giving all of it?" she asked quietly. Ananias stopped pacing and looked at her with a confident smile. "We'll give most of it," he said. "Enough to look like everything. No one will know." A breeze slipped through the open doorway, brushing cold across her arms. "But… we said we would give it all," she whispered. Ananias stepped closer, lowering his voice. "Sapphira, listen. We're not lying to God. We're still helping the church. We just don't need to tell them about the part we're keeping." Her throat tightened. The uneasy feeling in her spirit grew heavier. Respect. Admiration. Approval. The things she secretly wanted crowded her thoughts. And the coins glimmered temptingly in the dim morning light. She nodded. But her heart felt heavy as stone. Episode 199: From Pages High Academy - Shine with Purpose: The story of Dahlia

Dahlia parked her car and began to pull out what she'd need for the day. "Hey Dahlia, need some help?" Dahlia looked up to see Adam, Kate and Jason heading her way. "Actually, that would be great," Dahlia smiled, piling their outstretched arms with a few boxes and bags, while she pulled her small trolley with more things. "I'm heading to the Home Ec. room," she said. "Hey, Dahlia, I just, um, wanted to say thanks for the tutoring club you volunteer at after school on Tuesdays. I got my maths test, and I passed. I don't think I've ever gotten a pass before," Jason laughed.  "Oh, that's awesome! And you're welcome. I'm just glad I could help; I remember learning that in when I was in grade 10 and it was a lot," Dahlia smiled. "Yeah, thanks for always helping; it does mean a lot to us," Kate agreed. She'd been tutored in English, and her grades had improved too. "Aww, I'm so glad I love helping," she smiled. "Have fun with the Grade 8's this afternoon. I think my brother Eli has a crush on you." Adam laughed. He and his friends headed off to class. Dahlia shook her head, laughed and thanked them for their help in helping her carry everything.                                  ______________________________________________________ Join us as we dive into the story of Dahlia - the modernised story of Dorcas found in Acts 9:36-42. Episode 197: When Kindness Becomes Powerful: The Story of Dorcas

Hey GIGI girls, Welcome to a brand new year! We are super excited to be here with you - we hope this space is blessed and you walk away inspired and understanding the Bible a little more. Today we are looking at the story of Dorcas - you can find her story in the Bible in Acts 9: 36-42. Here is a sneak peek....                                       ------------------------------------------- The room was filled with grief. The widows cried. Everyone felt like their light had been snuffed out. They washed her body with gentle hands and lavender-scented oil. Then they placed her upstairs in a quiet room. But the believers were not ready to give up. They heard that the apostle Peter was in a town not too far away—Lydda. Two men rushed there, dust in their eyes, sweat drying on their skin from running in the sun. "Please," they begged. "Come quickly."
