Episodes explore faith topics from an Anabaptist perspective and specifically a christocentric hermeneutic. Anabaptist - member of a fringe, or radical, movement of the Protestant Reformation. The Anabaptists also believed that the church, the community of those who have made a public commitment of faith, should be separated from the state. Most Anabaptists were pacifists who opposed war and the use of coercive measures to maintain the social order. Christocentric hermeneutic - using the words and life of Christ as a filter by which we read all of scripture especially the Old Testament.

    The Importance of Deconstruction

    Synopsis: On this episode of Unashamedly Anabaptist Nick Ressler discusses the popular idea of deconstruction and explains Derrida's philosophy of deconstruction as well as Descartes philosophy of Cartesian Doubt. Nick proposes that deconstruction is not something that leaders should be fearing from the people they guide but rather something beautiful to be embraced as Jesus is one who showed us the way of asking questions. Evangelicalism began as an opposing force to Fundamentalism and represented an alternative in the midst of an educational and cultural war for the heart of religious America. However, political forces, NOT Jesus, eventually brought the diametrically opposing sides together to consolidate power.
