I am on episode 8. The episodes are well researched, she has a great voice and stays on topic. I had hoped to be in love with a new podcast at this point, but it’s just not happening yet.
It’s a major turn-off for me when injustices are excused “because of the time”, and that happens here every so often (though not constantly). I would rather her say something like “he was racist, because virtually everyone was at this time,” than “he was arguably racist, though it was a different time”. Acknowledging that our history is fraught with racial injustice is important if you’re going to start a historical podcast. Do better than the racist white-washed US school systems.
I am also losing interest in Texas history (most of the stories have been from Texas thus far), but I do see that there are episodes in the future outside of Texas, which is part of the reason I’m going to listen to a few more episodes and see how I feel (the other part is that the host has a great speaking voice and does her research). So waiting to see
