    Matthew Week 153 (Chapter 27)

    Matthew Week 153     Luke 23:20-22 ESV   22 A third time he said to them, "Why? What evil has he done? I have found in him no guilt deserving death. I will therefore punish and release him."       John 19:1 ESV   Then Pilate took Jesus and flogged him.       Matthew 27:27-30 ESV   Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the governor's headquarters, and they gathered the whole battalion before him. 28 And they stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him, 29 and twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on his head and put a reed in his right hand. And kneeling before him, they mocked him, saying, "Hail, King of the Jews!" 30 And they spit on him and took the reed and struck him on the head.             John 19:4-5 ESV   4 Pilate went out again and said to them, "See, I am bringing him out to you that you may know that I find no guilt in him." 5 So Jesus came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe.     Matthew Week 152 (Chapter 27)

    Matthew Week 152   Matthew 27:11 ESV   11 Now Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor asked him, "Are you the King of the Jews?" Jesus said, "You have said so."     John 18:28-32 ESV   28 Then they led Jesus from the house of Caiaphas to the governor's headquarters. It was early morning. They themselves did not enter the governor's headquarters, so that they would not be defiled, but could eat the Passover. 29 So Pilate went outside to them and said, "What accusation do you bring against this man?" 30 They answered him, "If this man were not doing evil, we would not have delivered him over to you."31 Pilate said to them, "Take him yourselves and judge him by your own law." The Jews said to him, "It is not lawful for us to put anyone to death."32 This was to fulfill the word that Jesus had spoken to show by what kind of death he was going to die.                   Luke 23:2 ESV   2 And they began to accuse him, saying, "We found this man misleading our nation and forbidding us to give tribute to Caesar, and saying that he himself is Christ, a king."       Matthew 22:19-22 ESV   19 Show me the coin for the tax." Then, arraying him in splendid clothing, he sent him back to Pilate.       Matthew 14:1-2 ESV   At that time Herod the tetrarch heard about the fame of Jesus, 2 and he said to his servants, "This is John the Baptist.     Matthew Week 150   1 Peter 2:21 ESV   21 For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps.       Hebrews 12:2-3 ESV   2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.   3 Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted.       John 18:15-16 ESV   15 Simon Peter followed Jesus, and so did another disciple. Since that disciple was known to the high priest, he entered with Jesus into the courtyard of the high priest, 16 but Peter stood outside at the door. So the other disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out and spoke to the servant girl who kept watch at the door, and brought Peter in.       Matthew 26:69-73 ESV   69 Now Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard. Day after day I sat in the temple teaching, and you did not seize me. 56 But all this has taken place that the Scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled." Then all the disciples left him and fled.     Matthew 26:57-58 ESV   57 Then those who had seized Jesus led him to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders had gathered. 58 And Peter was following him at a distance, as far as the courtyard of the high priest, and going inside he sat with the guards to see the end.       Isaiah 53:7b NIV   he was led like a lamb to the slaughter,                 Matthew 26:59-68 ESV   59 Now the chief priests and the whole council were seeking false testimony against Jesus that they might put him to death, 60 but they found none, though many false witnesses came forward.
