I appreciate the words “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” from the American Declaration of Independence. I was disappointed at how someone supposedly preaching the word of God instead chose to use some sketchy and fallacious logic and missing historical education to manufacture a biblical connection to his existing political beliefs.
Rather than follow the Word in its entirety, he stepped on the Word to “prove” his political points. His reasoning was not sound nor was it based in historical fact and full context.
Thus it wasn’t a reflection or teaching about Jesus or our *own* walk and growth in relationship to God. This was simply a political rant that he tried to dress in a biblical costume. (And that costume wasn’t even accurate.) Yet “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” could have made for a beautiful talk about walking with God, spiritual growth, faithfulness…
This makes me sad for the preacher, who has closed himself off from the Light of God to try to be “right” and is viewing all through cracked glasses, or glasses with someone else’s prescription.
Obviously from what I’ve noted here, I cannot recommend this podcast as a good source of wisdom or worship.
