The All Things Overlanding Podcast

Jason Fletcher

The All Things Overlanding Podcast was created to fill a void in Overlanding podcasts. Each episode will cover general Overlanding topics, Overlanding Events and Expos, Vehicle Modifications, and more! My goal is to provide the same great content as I do on YouTube and other platforms for all Overlanders, new or experienced. I hope you enjoy the content and that you'll come hang out on whatever channels you prefer!

  1. Ground Tent, Hammock, Roof Top Tent Camping, and Now Finally a Hard-Sided Camper (Pros and Cons)

    FEB 8

Ground Tent, Hammock, Roof Top Tent Camping, and Now Finally a Hard-Sided Camper (Pros and Cons)

Over the years, my camping and overlanding setup has gone through some serious evolution. I’ve slept in ground tents, tried hammock camping, spent plenty of nights in a roof top tent, and now I’m making the move to a hard-sided pop-up camper. In this episode, I’m breaking down my real-world experience with each setup — the good, the bad, and the things you don’t always think about until you’re out on the trail. Each style of camping has its place, and I’ve learned that what works best really depends on how you travel, where you camp, and what level of comfort and convenience you’re looking for. I talk through the biggest pros and cons of each setup including cost, setup time, weather protection, mobility, storage, and overall usability during overlanding trips. I also share why my needs have changed over time and what ultimately pushed me toward switching to a hard-sided camper. This isn’t about saying one setup is better than another — it’s about helping you understand the tradeoffs so you can decide what fits your style of adventure. If you’ve ever debated between a ground tent, hammock, roof top tent, or camper setup, this video should give you a realistic perspective based on actual use, not just specs or marketing claims. Let me know in the comments what setup you currently run and whether you’ve ever considered switching. I always enjoy hearing how other people build their rigs and camp setups. 2. Truck Mods and MPG: Which Upgrades Cost You the Most?

Truck Mods and MPG: Which Upgrades Cost You the Most?

If you’re thinking of adding mods to your truck but don't want to kill your MPG — this episode is for you. In this video, I break down which truck mods actually hurt fuel economy the most, and which ones aren’t as bad as people make them out to be. I’m talking from real-world experience, based on years of doing this — things like tires, lifts, roof racks, armor, bumpers, and all the “overlanding” upgrades we love to bolt on. I go through: * The biggest MPG killers most people don’t think about * Mods that hurt MPG more than expected * Why weight, rolling resistance, and aerodynamics matter more than you think * I also total up the weight of all the mods on my truck and talk about additional forms of wear and tear that can negatively impact the longevity of your vehicle This isn’t about telling you not to mod your truck — it’s about helping you make smarter decisions, especially if your rig still sees daily-driver duty or long road trips. If you’re building an overland rig, weekend adventure truck, or just trying to balance capability with fuel costs, this video will help you understand where the MPG losses really come from — and how to minimize them. Drop a comment with your setup and MPG changes, and let’s compare notes. 3. Overlanding Mods That Give the Most Bang for Your Buck

    JAN 11

Overlanding Mods That Give the Most Bang for Your Buck

If you’re getting into overlanding—or you’ve been doing it for a while and don’t want to waste money—this video is for you. In this episode, I’m breaking down the overlanding mods that give you the most bang for your buck. These are upgrades I’ve actually used, tested, and used out on real trips—not just stuff that looks cool on Instagram. Some mods are absolutely worth the money, while others can wait (or be skipped entirely). I talk through what I’d prioritize if I were starting over today, where you’ll get the biggest improvement in comfort, capability, and reliability, and how to build a setup that lets you travel more instead of constantly chasing the next expensive upgrade. Whether you’re building a budget overland rig, slowly upgrading over time, or just trying to figure out what really matters, this conversation should help you make smarter decisions with your money. Hope it helps! 4. New to Overlanding? Here's Where to Start for 2026!

New to Overlanding? Here's Where to Start for 2026!

If you’re new to overlanding and feeling overwhelmed by all the rigs, gear, and opinions online, this episode is for you. I’m breaking down where to actually start with overlanding in 2026 — what matters, what doesn’t, and how to avoid wasting money on things you don’t need yet. Overlanding has changed a lot over the past few years, but the fundamentals are still the same, and you don’t need a fully built rig to get out there and have a great time. I’ll talk about: * Choosing (or using) the right vehicle — even if it’s completely stock * Gear that’s worth buying early vs what can wait * Common beginner mistakes I see all the time Whether you’re planning your first overnight trip, slowly building a rig, or just trying to figure out if overlanding is even for you, this episode is meant to give you a clear, realistic starting point. 6. Essential Overlanding Maintenance: What I Do After Every Trip (Rig and Gear Tips Between Trips)

Essential Overlanding Maintenance: What I Do After Every Trip (Rig and Gear Tips Between Trips)

After every overlanding trip, I follow a simple but super effective routine to make sure my rig and gear are ready for the next adventure. In this video, I’m walking you through my exact post-trip maintenance process—what I check, what I clean, what I repair, and how I keep everything organized so I’m never scrambling the night before a trip. I’ll cover the key things I inspect on my vehicle (tires, suspension, fluids, etc.), plus the often-overlooked gear checks that can save you a ton of hassle—like recharging batteries, drying tents and sleeping systems, cleaning kitchen setups, and making sure your fridge and storage bins are good to go. This routine has helped me prevent breakdowns, catch small issues before they become expensive problems, and streamline my packing so every trip starts off smoother. Whether you’re a weekend camper or a regular overlander, these simple habits can make a huge difference in your long-term reliability. If you’ve got your own post-trip checklist or maintenance tips, drop them in the comments—I’m always looking to learn from the community!
