Certifiable Podcast

Cory Drake

Certifiable Studios began as a small group of guys who just wanted to share great games with the world. “Wouldn’t it be cool…” we’d say to each other—and then we’d rattle off some of the coolest ideas you’ve never heard. Until one day, one of us said, “Wouldn’t it be cool…if we just made that idea happen?” So that’s what we did.

    Blogcast 1

NOTE: Please listen with headphones for the full experience. Morning Freewriting Session In one of those spontaneous company meetings in the kitchen, Jesse mentioned something about wanting to do a “blogcast.” Of course, all present—thinking he’d had a slight brain fart and made an accidental portmanteau of “blog” and “podcast”—laughed and laughed.  After a few moments during which a single tear streamed down his face (that he assured us was simply allergic eye-watering), Jesse doubled down and insisted he meant what he said.  “A blogcast,” he declared, “is a combination of a blog and a podcast.” You write a blog post, but you record it instead of posting it.”  “So…wait,” I replied. “You just read the post instead of actually, you know...posting it?” There was a moment where he appeared to be thinking about how to answer. Someone ignorant of his genius might mistake it for stalling or uncertainty, but those of us who get to bask in the glory of his brilliance on a daily basis know better. “No! We won’t record the actual content, dumbass. Any moron could do that. We’ll record the making of the content. It’s like that stuff on YouTube that idiots listen to and get goosebumps. TMI...BDSM…?” “You mean ASMR?” I oh-so-foolishly responded. “OF COURSE THAT’S WHAT I MEAN, (expletive) FOR BRAINS. I WAS TESTING YOU.” I felt like a pathetic simpleton, as I often do in the presence of the man I feel utterly privileged to call my boss. Check and mate, sir. One day I’ll learn. Now to just figure out what to write about. What to write...what to write…
