    The Children of God Revealed

Are you the same person on a Tuesday night that you are on a Sunday morning? 1 John 2 and 3 take an honest look at grace, identity, and what you keep practicing when nobody is watching. It starts on a flag football field, with a coach who never signed up for the job and a team that lost 56 to 0, because practice is simply where you work on whatever went wrong last week. Grace can either set you free from the things that wreck your life or get treated like a free pass to do whatever you want, and the difference shows up in what you choose to practice. A famous artist once sold signed originals for $60 in a park while crowds walked right past, yet their worth never changed for a second, and the same is true of being claimed and loved by God right now, long before anyone else sees it.Stumbling doesn't cancel any of that. A kid's first steps almost always end in a fall, and no good parent answers with anything but a high five and another try. So keep practicing, keep getting back up, and discover what it feels like to move from longing to belonging, one honest step at a time.#CarpentersWay #christian #church #salvation=============================TABLE OF CONTENTS: =============================00:00 Becoming a reluctant football coach05:20 Reflecting on spiritual maturity07:57 Locating and understanding 1 John13:05 Abiding in Christ's teachings14:02 Finding Fellowship in Unexpected Places18:55 Banksy art stunts and antics23:35 The second return of Christ24:48 Growing in Christian faith29:47 Practicing consistent righteousness31:26 Practicing Righteousness vs. Sin35:24 Practicing righteousness vs. sin37:33 Understanding conviction as a gift41:26 Opening prayer and blessings=============================VIDEO LINKS:=============================Follow us on social media and make sure you subscribe for more content:►► Subscribe Now! ► https://www.carpentersway.com/subscribeYouTube:    / @carpentersway  WEB: https://www.carpentersway.com/FB:   / carpentersway  IG:   / carpentersway

Don’t Love the World; Abide in Him

Why does finally getting the promotion, the upgrade, or the win so often leave you feeling emptier than before? A few ancient lines from 1 John 2 name that pull with surprising honesty. After a flood ruins a garage full of stuff, a couple promises each other they will never let that much pile up again. Two years and one more flood later, the garage is full again. The heart works the same way, reaching for comfort, connection, and a sense of being enough in places that act like seawater on a lifeboat: it looks like relief and leaves you thirstier. Those desires were placed there on purpose, and they run deeper than anything a garage can hold. Jesus offers a satisfaction that does not dry up and does not ask you to prove you are enough. If you have been chasing and coming up empty, you are in good company, and Carpenter's Way would love to keep wondering about it with you. #CarpentersWay #christian #church #salvation ============================= TABLE OF CONTENTS:  ============================= 00:00 Identifying and Resisting Worldly Temptations 06:08 Loving others and spiritual challenges 07:58 Avoiding Worldly Attachments 11:13 Examining desires and temptations 15:17 Discussing humility and gratitude 17:41 C.S. Real Eyes: Finding Assurance of Salvation

How do you actually know that you know God? First John 2 lays out a test for that question, and it has almost nothing to do with what someone says and everything to do with how they treat the people around them. The test starts with commandments, but not as a scorecard for earning anything. Keeping them is simply the evidence of what's already true underneath. From there the letter narrows the whole thing down to one measurable question: love or hate. Hate gets defined here as nothing more dramatic than the absence of love, and love gets defined as a willed commitment to someone else's good, which means it can look like warmth one day and a hard boundary the next. By the end, the focus shifts from testing to identity, naming a few different stages people grow through in their faith: still learning the basics, full of fire and forward motion, or settled into a long, steady trust that others can lean on. Worth sitting with for a minute: which one sounds most like where things actually stand right now. #CarpentersWay #christian #church #salvation ============================= TABLE OF CONTENTS:  ============================= 00:00 A humbling preaching lesson 05:54 Assurance of Salvation and Growth 09:26 God is light and forgiving 11:23 Following God's Commandments 16:18 Reflecting on Christian Identity 17:52 Reflecting on Personal Growth 23:21 Adapting faith to life changes 24:19 Being faithful in different contexts 27:21 Discussing love and hate challenges 32:02 Dealing with Sin and Forgiveness 35:45 Discussing tough love and relationships 38:42 Levels of spiritual maturity 40:39 Spiritual maturity and leadership ============================= VIDEO LINKS: ============================= Follow us on social media and make sure you subscribe for more content: ►► Subscribe Now! ►  https://www.carpentersway.com/subscribe YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@carpentersway?sub_confirmation=1 WEB: https://www.carpentersway.com/ FB: https://www.facebook.com/carpentersway/ IG: https://www.instagram.com/carpentersway/

Walking in the Light (1 John 1)

A quick flashlight experiment opened the day, and it revealed something the room already suspected: nobody there was struggling alone. That's where a new series through 1 John begins, called Real Eyes, tracing what it means to walk in the light instead of hiding in the dark. The teaching moves through four familiar ways people avoid being fully known: chasing spiritual language with no real anchor, curating an online self that looks better than real life, blaming the past instead of owning the present, and knowing all the right answers without any of it changing a Tuesday. First John names all of this as a version of walking in darkness, and it offers something different: confession instead of hiding, and a God who responds to honesty with forgiveness rather than exposure. The picture that emerges is less about proving anything and more about being fully known and still loved, brokenness included. Carpenter's Way continues through 1 John in the weeks ahead, tracing what it looks like to trade the exhausting work of hiding for something steadier.#CarpentersWay #christian #church #salvation=============================TABLE OF CONTENTS: =============================00:00 Playing the honesty light game04:31 Faith beyond Sundays09:41 John's response to dualism11:14 Critique of dualism in faith13:55 Teenagers and online identity17:53 Introducing John's message about God20:41 Facing personal sin with faith24:32 Being real in the church27:55 Discussing God's forgiveness and confession32:41 Continuing the message beyond chapters36:03 Facing and Confessing Sin38:29 Prayer for guidance and integrity=============================VIDEO LINKS:=============================Follow us on social media and make sure you subscribe for more content:►► Subscribe Now! ► https://www.carpentersway.com/subscribeYouTube:    / @carpentersway  WEB: https://www.carpentersway.com/FB:   / carpentersway  IG:   / carpentersway

Why Pray if God Already Knows

Does Jesus actually hear your prayers, and how long is he allowed to make you wait for an answer? This final stop in our Ask Anything series takes on the question you asked more than any other: prayer, and why it feels so hard even when we know it matters. We walk through the honest, sometimes uncomfortable truth about how God answers. If your prayer life has felt more like a struggle than a strength lately, you're in good company here. We're not chasing perfect prayers, just an honest, ongoing conversation with a Father who is always listening. What Science and Genesis Agree On

Did the first people on earth have belly buttons? It sounds like a throwaway question until it opens up something much bigger about where everything, and everyone, actually came from. This is part of an ongoing series built entirely from real questions people have asked, and this round tackles two of the biggest ones: how did it all begin, and how does it all end. It walks through where Genesis and modern science actually agree more than most people expect, why every person alive traces back to one common story, and why prophecy works less like a newspaper predicting Tuesday and more like an almanac describing a season. Even the hard questions about wars, chaos, and counterfeit answers land in the same place: there's a difference between noise that makes people anxious and truth that holds steady no matter what.Questions like these are usually the ones people sit on the longest, wondering if they're allowed to ask them out loud. They are. Curiosity is where this starts, and there's room here for whatever question comes next.#CarpentersWay #christian #church #AskAnything #Questions=============================TABLE OF CONTENTS: =============================00:00 Purpose of Worship and Gathering05:06 Discussing beginnings and endings08:53 Science and faith on creation12:04 Science and biblical cosmology agree16:06 Science vs. Faith in Creation18:19 Different views on human origins21:46 Paul's encounter with unknown god statue26:37 Discussing the End Times29:58 Discussion on tribulation and end times31:35 Understanding Signs of Seasonal Change35:34 Understanding John's View of Antichrist37:43 Studying the real to spot fakes=============================VIDEO LINKS:=============================Follow us on social media and make sure you subscribe for more content:►► Subscribe Now! ► https://www.carpentersway.com/subscribeYouTube:    / @carpentersway  WEB: https://www.carpentersway.com/FB:   / carpentersway  IG:   / carpentersway

    Why Do Bad Things Happen?

Why do bad things happen to good people? It's one of the oldest questions in human history, and it gets personal fast when the suffering is yours.Scripture tells the story of a man born blind, and everyone around him wanted to know why. Jesus never answers that question directly. Instead he points to who is present in the suffering, a pattern that shows up again in a well known account of a man who lost everything and clung to the hope that his Redeemer was still alive. A true story about a teenage boy who couldn't walk and had every reason to be angry at God brings that same pattern into today, showing what happens when someone finally turns their why into a who.Suffering never fully makes sense on this side of eternity, but a real answer does exist, one built on trust instead of explanation. This question came from an ongoing series built entirely around real questions from real people, and more are always welcome. Submit one anytime at carpentersway.com/ask, because faith grows in honest conversation, not in having every answer figured out.#CarpentersWay #christian #church #AskAnything #Questions=============================TABLE OF CONTENTS: =============================00:00 Childhood memory and philosophical questioning03:46 Exploring the topic of suffering06:59 The struggle of understanding suffering12:59 Sharing personal faith experiences14:45 Blind man's testimony and healing18:33 Reflections on Suffering and Faith21:10 Feeling Abandoned and Misunderstood25:21 A story of faith and hope27:15 Discussing the Problem of Suffering30:47 Job's friends' flawed reasoning32:59 Handling prosperity with gratitude37:10 Offering a Prayer for Guidance=============================VIDEO LINKS:=============================Follow us on social media and make sure you subscribe for more content:►► Subscribe Now! ► https://www.carpentersway.com/subscribeYouTube:    / @carpentersway  WEB: https://www.carpentersway.com/FB:   / carpentersway  IG:   / carpentersway

The Questions People Are Afraid to Ask

What actually happens when you ask a question in church and get shut down for it? This week's episode opens up the questions people have been carrying around for years, including one that sounds a little scandalous at first: was it a sin, and why did God allow it?The honest answer is that scripture doesn't always hand you a clean rule. Sometimes it reports what happened, puts guardrails around it, and shows you the wreckage it left behind, then points back to how things were designed to be from the start. That same pattern shows up when someone asks whether you'd still have faith today if you hadn't grown up around it. Story after story shows people finding their way in from every possible starting point, and every single one of them still had to respond for themselves. Growing up in it never made anyone automatic, and growing up outside it never locked anyone out.No question is too messy or too late to ask. If you've been sitting on one, carpentersway.com/ask is where it goes, and it might be the very question that opens up next week for someone else who's been wondering the same thing. This is a family that would rather sit with a hard question together than pretend it never came up.#CarpentersWay #christian #church #AskAnything #Questions=============================TABLE OF CONTENTS: =============================00:00 Church lesson on Noah's Ark03:42 Seeking answers in the church06:29 Discussing Deep Theological Questions10:34 Marriage and concubinage as alliances15:23 Biblical principles on marriage and divorce17:48 Women's remarriage and protection20:11 Biblical principles on relationships25:36 Growing up in a Christian home27:13 Discussing Biblical Genealogies31:45 Becoming a Christian through visions34:43 Peter's vision in Joppa37:08 Cornelius's vision and instructions41:01 Building a Spiritual Foundation43:16 Prayers for guidance and evangelism=============================VIDEO LINKS:=============================Follow us on social media and make sure you subscribe for more content:►► Subscribe Now! ► https://www.carpentersway.com/subscribeYouTube:    / @carpentersway  WEB: https://www.carpentersway.com/FB:   / carpentersway  IG:   / carpentersway
