    Conquering Literal & Figurative Mountains with Van

    This week we are graced with the presence of my friend Van, who now owns the title of second guest of the pod!  In our typical fashion, Van and I made a last minute decision and met in the mountains of North Carolina last weekend. We spent time hiking and catching up, and this episode catches the tail-end of our conversations from the weekend.  Van shares the challenges of being a first-generation college student and a female engineer, and amazes me with her ability to persevere, never letting anything stop her from achieving her goals. I am lucky to call Van my friend, and I know that everyone who hears her story will be inundated with inspiration.

    Much like inopportune moments of flatulence, fear is something we all deal with (and sometimes at the same time!). A recent 5K that I somehow convinced myself was a good idea to run left me thinking about fear and all of the times it has prevented me from doing things that I really wanted to do. My good friend from college, Adam, calls in all the way from Minnesota (and boy is his voice tired!) to pose a very interesting discussion topic. Listen as we go off topic, but with the ultimate intent of exploring different ideas relating to vulnerability and communicating.  I am honored that Adam was willing to join the podcast, especially in such an experimental role as the first ever guest.     Lessons from Loneliness

    In this episode I discuss some of the ideas I stewed over while spending the summer alone in a new state. I grapple with the challenges of being by yourself and the importance of shifting your focus outward to find balance. Disclaimer: This is my least favorite episode to date. I don't really agree with everything I said when I listen back, but I wasn’t really in a place where I resonated with the topic afterwards which is why I didn't re-record.
