Shaolin Chi Mantis Traditional Buddhist Kung Fu Podcast

Buddha Zhen Shen-Lang "Spirit Wolf of Truth"

Shaolin Chi Mantis was founded in 1992 to teach traditional northern Shaolin Kung Fu, Taoist Tai Chi Chuan and Confucian strategy in a maximum security prison in Utah. The Governor hired Buddha Zhen for rehab centers and family conferences after he measurably lowered the recidivism and violence within the inmates. This podcast will allow us to share our teachings with more than our students.

008-Shaolin Chi Mantis Traditional Buddhist Kung Fu: Kung Fu without Zen Buddhism Is Not Shaolin Kung Fu

INTRO SONG:  “Road To The Mountaintop” is from the TAI CHI MAGIC 1 album by Buddha Zhen, who plays all the instruments and wrote the song. https://www.shaolinrecords.com/RecordStore-R/taichiMagic1R.html OUTRO SONG:  “Tai Chi Magic” is from the TAI CHI MAGIC 1 album by Buddha Zhen and was used for dozens of public performances, tournaments, and state fairs with the stage packed with students performing the Yang Tai Chi Chuan Short Form of Shaolin Chi Mantis for thousands of attendees in Utah and California. https://www.shaolinrecords.com/RecordStore-R/taichiMagic1R.html Buddha Zhen continues reading his 1993 book: Shaolin Kung Fu Initiate by Buddha Zhen Shen-Lang “Spirit Wolf of Truth.” This book was written to dissuade people from joining Shaolin Chi Mantis. Buddha Zhen says he prefers Northern Kung Fu to Southern style, “…but they’re all good… it only takes a couple good punches to win a fight… winning a fight a fight is not a big deal…” Buddha Zhen explains, “Kung Fu is about living a long and healthy life.” He also explains how he is recombining the Zen Buddhism with the Shaolin Kung Fu to unlock its real life benefits and helping the practitioner to live a longer and healthier life. “Doing the dance without the art,” is how he describes Shaolin Kung Fu without the Zen Buddhism. “Zen Buddhism is like a hippie version of Buddhism,” he continues while explaining that there are no Gods, rituals, prayers… in the Original Zen Buddhism. “The Buddhism is wonderful, beautiful stuff… but the Shaolin Temple is not the Shaolin Temple anymore,” he laughs. https://KungFuCowboy.com Buddha Zhen Shen-Lang “Spirit Wolf of Truth” is certified as a Chinese Jing Mo master by Grandmaster Wong Jack Man in San Francisco who fought Bruce Lee in 1964. He also graduated the Tai Mantis Federation school in 1984 while living with his Shifu Scott Stamps and studying with Dr. Kam Yuen. 007-Shaolin Chi Mantis Traditional Buddhist Kung Fu Podcast: If the Truth Bothers You--You Are Not Zen

Buddha Zhen is certified as a Chinese Jing Mo master by Grandmaster Wong Jack Man in San Francisco who fought Bruce Lee in 1964. In 1996 when Buddha Zhen launched the nonprofit Tai Chi Youth he moved all of his students into this new school and told his students that anyone who wanted to join Shaolin Chi Mantis would have to join in a traditional Northern Shaolin Monastery method and ceremony including the Buddhist “Head Shaving.” This new requirement helped to weed out the less dedicated disciples who would not have progressed very far in this very intense and traditional curriculum. As of 2021 not one student has graduated the Shaolin Chi Mantis Intermediate Level which includes single saber, double saber, advanced staff and the huge “Long Fist Forms” of 1,000 AD, “Shaolin 6,” “Shaolin 7,” and “Shaolin 8.” In the advanced Level SCM Disciples learn more Shaolin PLUS the Northern Praying Mantis forms and more weapons. This Shaolin Chi Mantis Shaolin Kung Fu INITIATE book will seem very strange to Americans, but seem traditional or ancient to Chinese persons, since that’s what this is. Chinese Buddhist requirements of 1,000 years ago. Enjoy this journey back 1,000 years to a place only 1 out of 100 students could master or graduate in today’s modern materialistic capitalist instant gratification world. The SCM Beginner program cannot be learned in less than two years. Same with with Intermediate and Advanced Levels of Shaolin Chi Mantis. No other martial art I’ve encounter since 1980 has this much information, enlightenment or Kung Fu to learn. Tai Chi Youth can be learned in 3-5 years and Buddha Kung Fu can be learned in 5-8 years. “I may be the founder of a martial arts system too difficult for any American to graduate from,” says Buddha Zhen. The BEGINNER PROGRAM of Shaolin Chi Mantis requires two years of classes 3-days per week. So the entire SCM curriculum may require 12 years to graduate from.
