Sermon Title: Seven Things God Hates Speaker: Elder Wilton Williams Scripture: Proverbs 6:16-19 Date: August 15, 2026 In this powerful message titled "Seven Things God Hates," we dive deep into Proverbs 6:16-19 to understand how these destructive behaviors impact our character, our families, our church community, and ultimately, our relationship with God. God doesn't list these traits merely to condemn us; rather, He exposes them so He can cleanse us. This sermon explores the dangerous progression of sin—from internal attitudes like pride and wicked imaginations to outward actions like violence, lying, and sowing division. Ultimately, we are reminded that the perfect antidote to these seven destructive traits is the beautiful character of Jesus Christ, who perfectly embodies humility, truth, love, purity, righteousness, justice, and unity. The Seven Destructive Traits Solomon outlines seven specific things that are contrary to God's nature: A Proud Look: Haughty eyes that elevate self, refuse correction, and look down on others.A Lying Tongue: From deliberate falsehoods and exaggerations to remaining silent when the truth should be spoken.Hands Shedding Innocent Blood: Not just physical harm, but harboring hatred, bitterness, and revenge in the heart.A Heart Devising Wickedness: The internal workshop where selfish schemes and sinful fantasies are plotted.Feet Swift to Mischief: Eagerly and intentionally rushing into temptation, controversy, and gossip.A False Witness: Weaponizing words—even weaponizing facts—to destroy another person's reputation or livelihood.Sowing Discord: Deliberately planting and watering seeds of disunity, suspicion, and jealousy among brethren.
