Permaculture for Refugees n Permayouth - Rosemary Morrow - Morag Gamble - Maia Raymond 2021-12-03 BTL

Permaculture is more than merely crafting a sustainable food garden, it is creating a whole system that interweaves all components of life which enables the ‘gardeners’ to thrive. Never has this model been needed more than in those places of devastated earth that have seen people and communities decimated by repeated war and conflict, by famine and lack of basic healthcare, in truth, a lack of humanity and the total disintegration of a functioning eco system. Three people who are bringing permaculture to communities seeking not only to survive, but to rebuild and envision a future that can be returned to sustainability, are: Morag Gamble, founder of the Permaculture Education Institute, who for the past 25 years, as a Global Permaculture Ambassador, Morag Gamble has led programs in 22 countries. Her daughter Maia, a Permayouth Coordinator, who is the founder of the Global Permayouth and Rowe Morrow, an author and permaculture teacher who has worked and taught around the world for more than thirty years. Her current focus is on P4R (Permaculture for Refugees) and permaculture-based prevention of, and responses to, disasters. She is currently working with other permies who have experience in refugee camps and disaster zones to develop strategies for permaculture-based projects and teaching in these contexts. She is very interested in the relevance of permaculture during disasters and for the world’s very poor, and the impact of teaching permaculture.
