The Joker Is A Metaphor for Life - Hero On Heroes 01

The Dark Knight Joker is a metaphor for life. In this video I examine why Heath Ledger’s role as the Joker is the greatest villain performance of all time. Welcome to Mettle! I am the Mettleist. My goal is to positively influence the lives of others through motivation and mental health awareness. Being a beacon of spirit, hope, and courage. Guiding, assisting, and picking up those who are down to let them know that metal (mettle) bends, but doesn’t break. Neither do we! When the second installment of Christopher Nolan’s Batman Trilogy “The Dark Knight” released in 2008, people were shaken to their core about Heath Ledger’s role as the Joker. Ledger’s role would soon be the consensus choice for best villain of all time. I often get into conversations with others and ask them why they feel this way. The short answer is the iconic laugh, how insane the character is and how it’s theorized that the role led to Ledger’s drug use and ultimately his death. I mean come on, how do you pick against a role that potentially killed its actor. However, I believe that the Joker is the best villain portrayed on screen because what he represents. The Joker is a metaphor for life itself. Hero on Heroes is my version of Variety’s Actors on Actors. In this series I do a deep dive into any Marvel or DC superhero or supervillain. I breakdown their mindsets and motivations in each of their roles. LINKS: Follow me on Twitter! Twitter.com/themettleist Follow me on Instagram!
