    Understanding Hypertension with Dr Jay Shah

    In this episode of Your Health Transformed we have the guest speaker Dr Jay Shah who is a cardiologist and also chief medical officer at Aktiia. The main topic that he talks about in this podcast is “Hypertension” since it’s a huge issue all around the world, He starts by giving us an overview of his company. He explains how most people do not pay attention to their blood pressure as they think it’s common and not something that they should worry about and this leads misunderstanding leads them to worst conditions. Even after having the best treatment available yet only one in five percent of people have their blood pressure in control. Further, he explains in detail on how to take a proper blood pressure test. What conditions need to be followed etc? He states that Aktiia is a technology software that is based on optical signals that sit on the wrist and give accurate blood pressure readings almost like a watch. He puts forward facts that are being faced by physicians and patients in the current world. The most mind-blowing fact that he talks about is how only 50% of people are actually salt sensitive regarding blood pressure.     In this episode, we have the guest speaker Allan Misner who is a health coach and certified by a national academy trainer, in nutrition, behavior change, etc. He specializes in people 40 +. He has a company called 40+ Fitness. He dispels the myth of being unable to do different things due to age. He starts off by saying Know what fitness means to you? It could be anything, even the simplest thing. People can't do something because they haven't convinced themselves to do it. He asks us to find the cant and know what we can do. He explains if you can't exercise because of your knee don't use your hands instead. He gives different exercise tips that we can swap instead. You can change your mindset, relabel and redefine your definition of exercise. He also gives tips for people who do not want to exercise because of the weather. He shares his personal story of why he changed and upgraded. He explains how motivation is not something you get but something you set up along with its types.
