I'm a furry and came across this podcast weeks ago and it's very amusing to listen to while I work. I listened all 3 episodes about furry. The host Amp is super nice and respect to furry culture. Idk if you 2 will see the review timely and Idk other ways to leave comments 😂 In the newest PAWCON episode, Mr. Kristofer was confused by the term "party floor" and "dance floor" and I don't remember Amp actually addressed that question. I have been to many cons (not PAWCON pre se though), and I can help answer that. The "party floor" is a floor designated to throw room parties. It helps to reduce the noise to other rooms that prefer quite. And easier for fur con to do age checking. Party here in fur con context means "room party", that individual attendees have their own ones at their own room, and the party itself usually has nothing to do with the con officials. Some cons like pawcon will assign an entire floor of rooms to be the party floors that those party can be announced as part of the con schedule thing. And the con official will do age check table for entire floor. After the age check people can go to the entire floor of rooms for parties. While PAWCON has a party floor, it doesn't mean you can't held a party at other rooms. You can always have your own little party at your room as you planned, and invite people you want. Many other cons that don't have a party floor policy can still have many room parties launched by attendees themselves. While the con officials don't regulate any of those room parties. A party is just a gathering social event in a room. They can be any themed depends on how the host want it. Some host will be able to set up speaker and invite DJs to play music to make the room party more fun. Some may just play chill music on the TV, or even no music. DJ and dance isn't necessary for room party.
While the "dance floor" is usually part of the con official event. Usually happened at the ballroom or some big area in the hotel. Often at the first or second floor. Often every night of the con, there are dance (or called "rave") event happens from 10 pm to 2am. Fur con official will let many DJs to apply for the slot, and the qualified DJ will play their set for an hour. The dance floor is a place where DJ plays music, and people go to that area to dance, chill, and enjoy the music. It's not a standard "party" things. Although people may form a small dance circle that looks like a "party". So at fur cons if saying "go to the dance or rave", it means go to the dance floor to dance; if saying "go to a party", it usually means go to someone's hotel room for a private room party. The party floor and dance floor are totally different things.
