On this episode of Finding Your Bliss, Celebrity Interviewer and Bliss Coach Judy Librach is joined by Dana Wylie and Harry Gregg of Secondhand Dreamcar, an explosive soul/roots/blues band based in Edmonton. One of CKUA radio’s favourite acts, Secondhand Dreamcar saw its debut album Answer The Call landed at Number 6 on the station’s Top 100 albums of 2024. But, the band’s true superpower is as a dynamite live act, having cut its teeth as an ensemble in a 9-month residency at Edmonton’s legendary Blues on Whyte club, and since fostering an Alberta-wide, ever-growing following of devotees who never miss a show. They had a very busy 2025, selling out a two-nighter at Edmonton’s Yardbird Suite and playing a full roster of summer festivals, including the Edmonton Folk Festival and the Calgary Blues Festival. They’ve started off 2026 right, receiving three Canadian Blues Music Awards nominations and a JUNO nomination for Blues Album of the Year, for Answer the Call, and they just finished tracking their second album, which will be out in the Fall. Dana Wylie is a Canadian Blues Music Award nominee, a Canadian Folk Music Award nominee, and – with her roots/soul supergroup, Secondhand Dreamcar – and she’s also a JUNO nominee. She’s a singer of rare gift and a crafter of deeply felt and sharply observed songs, and Penguin Eggs magazine once called her the only artist about whom they have “felt comfortable comparing favourably to Joni Mitchell, in the scope of her talent EVER.” Cutting short a promising career in the Canadian theatre scene at 23, Dana moved to the unlikely locale of Taiwan, where she cut her musical teeth playing with jug bands, blues bands, bluegrass bands and cover bands, singing jazz in hotel lounges, and doing some of the most bizarre corporate gigs you could possibly imagine. Moving to the UK in 2005, she formed her own band there and zig-zagged the country in a Ford Transit van, multiple times over the next five years, releasing three critically-praised albums along the way. She then landed (exhausted) back in Canada in 2010 and enrolled in university to give herself a break. Dana’s 2017 record The Earth That You’re Made Of, earned her a CFMA nomination for Contemporary Singer of the Year, and was described by journalist and programmer Peter North as “one of the finest contemporary roots recordings to have ever been produced in Alberta, period.” She debuted her critically-acclaimed theatrical song-cycle Makings of a Voice in 2021, released her sixth solo album How Much Muscle in early 2023, as well an album of original country duets with Sammy Volkov in 2024, and she received her MA in Music from the University of Alberta that same year. Her band Secondhand Dreamcar’s debut album “Answer the Call" received a 2025 JUNO nomination for Blues Album of the Year and three Canadian Blues Music Awards nominations, including Female Vocalist of the Year for Dana, and their new album “Get Ready” will be released in Fall 2026. Harry Gregg is a producer, engineer and bassist based in Edmonton, AB. Since switching to full time music in 2011, he has produced more than fifty full-length records and recorded and mixed many more albums and singles for artists in a variety of genres. As a producer, he considers it paramount to capture each artist’s individual character at the core of the recordings. Harry has been a partner at the beloved Riverdale Recorders in Edmonton since 2014, alongside the venerable Scott Franchuk. In addition to his studio work, Harry is also very busy as a musician, playing many live shows and on numerous recordings each year. Harry has produced albums for Sammy Volkov (1st Album to ever debut at #1 on the CKUA charts), Braden Gates (2022 CFMA winner for Traditional Album of the Year), Emmet Michael (2022 Edmonton Music Prize Winner), Maddie Storvold, Daniel Gervais, Dana Wylie, Celeigh (kay-lee) Cardinal (2018 WCMA Winner for Indigenous Artist of the Year) and many more, and has performs regularly ...
