Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl each put up five points, and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins added two in his season debut. Edmonton also improved to two separate three-game win streaks before November, something last year’s team didn’t manage until January. Carolina controlled long stretches of this game with its trademark forecheck and structure. The Oilers managed just four even-strength shot attempts through 40 minutes and only 12 at 5-on-5 all night.
