Uncomfortable at times

They used a disabled little girl for a PR stunt after accidentally killing some of their lowest class citizens this is not acknowledged as manipulative or unethical. Also compares fictional “humans first” group that never did anything but protest to the real life murderous klu klux clan 😬
Some Concerns

There are many aspects of the story that I really like. Since this is serial there are certain elements you should expect going in- i.e odd pacing in some places, but I generally think the story is well written and well thought through It’s definitely quite slow, it takes its time introducing the characters and developing their dynamics and it spends a lot of time on the plot and world building- which I personally found disappointing as the plot is probably the stories weakest point. It would have been better served to spend less time on that and more time on the character who are more interesting. As for the plot, it’s a lot of using shifters as a metaphor for racism and homophobia which came off very heavy handed and doesn’t work great as a metaphor either- it reminds me a lot of Zootopia and it’s attempt at a racism metaphor. Having one group be in power but also oppressed? The final thing about the story I find strange is the dynamic between the two leads, Caden and Valerius. Valerius is thousands of years old and Caden is around 25. That in of itself if perfectly fine if handled in an aware and mature way, but it’s not. The author constantly mentions how Caden is young, naive, ‘just a kid’ but never does anything more. If she had just ignored the age difference it would have been better. But describing Caden like that suddenly makes the fact that Valerius falls in love with him while viewing him as just a stupid kid that can’t do anything by himself… really uncomfortable. And the story never addresses it beyond Valerius worrying over how young in need of protection he is.
I love it ❤️

It’s cute yet serious at the same time. Caden and Valerius seem so In love and it’s really beautiful. I overall love the story and have been listening for at least a year, I love the updates, and I’ve listened to all of the first 80 at least 5 times each.
This story is my favorite story!

I love this story so much, I love each and every character, Kadens little sister so such a amazing character and so are Wally and Rose. I do wish they came out more than just a week! I don’t really have the time to read the other books posted on the website, I have a pretty fast passed life so finding time to read is hard but this story is my top fav!

Promising at first but quickly gets dull

I want to like this podcast, I really tried. And the initial premise is really interesting and it has a strong start. However you can tell that this was written on a weekly basis as the pacing is extremely off, and the world building feels...out of place? It’s very hard to describe. I understand we are trying to get to know our cast of characters but to me it feels a lot of telling rather than showing, as well as the tension dying down cause of all the sub plots. The male leads are cute but most of the beginning we rarely see them interact which I think is a hinderance on the development of the relationship. The narrator herself isn’t great either, and it might be a huge reason why it’s hard to immerse myself. She talks far too quickly at times and it feels rough and unprofessional, even if I give her props to both writing and narrating her story. I wish she might’ve hired some male actors but she must’ve been on a budget and had a lot of material, which is such a shame as it would’ve improved it a lot. Overall I can see how someone might like it, but something about the combination of everything really turned me off.
