What Does The Bible Say About The Jehovahs Witness Church?

Send us Fan Mail We continue our study of denominations by looking at the Jehovah's Witness Church which was founded by Charles T. Russell. It had its formal beginnings in the early 20th century. We look at its history beginning with Russell and followed by a number of other men. We talk about these men, those they associated with and the gradual changes these various men made in the organization. We move on to a discussion of the structural organization of the Jehovah's Witness denomination. We note the two societies that they have, one international and one limited to the United States proper. We discuss the individuals who serve in the organization as well as the basic unit of the Society which is the local company of Witnesses, We begin our discussion of some of the false doctrines of the Jehovah's Witnesses before running out of time. But upon examination, they profess much that is contrary to what the Bible says. We look at what they say they believe, and then dive in to the particulars which are clearly contrary to what is true. What Does the Bible Say About the Mormon Church 2?

Send us Fan Mail In this episode we continue our discussion of the organization of the Mormon Church. As was mentioned last week, it is highly organized, much like the Roman Catholic Church. We next take a look at the Mormon scriptures, beginning with the Book of Mormon. We note that there are 15 books in it that record the migration of two groups from the mid-east to North America. We discuss these groups and note where this story actually came from, that is called the Book of Mormon. We find that since the original printing, the Book of Mormon has undergone 4,113 changes - some minor, some substantial. We talk about some of these changes. We also note that there were a number of common errors in the original Book of Mormon that was supposedly dictated to Joseph Smith by God. We look at those. We also note some of the explanations Mormons have supplied to excuse these errors, many blaming the printers, even though the original handwritten copies are available. We look at two additional publications, Doctrines and Covenants and its predecessor, the Book of Commandments. Most Mormon doctrine comes from these two publications, not from the Book of Mormon. We note some of those doctrines. Our time expired at this point. We will begin next week's episode by looking at some of the Mormon Articles of Faith. What Does the Bible Say About the Christian Church and the Mormon Church?

Send us Fan Mail In this episode we begin by continuing our discussion of the Christian Church denomination. We note that like the Roman Catholic Church, it is difficult to recount its history because it evolved gradually. We do know that the Christian Church developed out of the Restoration Movement that sought to get churches of the day to return to the principles found in the New Testament, not as denominations. But that attitude soon changed as a number of changes were instituted that were beyond what was said in the Bible. We talk about those changes. We note that the Christian Church says they have no creed, but in fact their creed consists of their beliefs as defined by their leaders in their conventions. We discuss the real problem they have in that they have an improper understanding and application of Bible authority. Consequently, various innovations and practices are done that are not found in the scriptures including the missionary society and instrumental music as part of the worship. We discuss these as they exist in the Christian Church. We move on to the Mormon Church and talk about Joseph Smith, its founder, its history, as Joseph Smith claimed various "revelations" that guided him. We move on to the organization of the Mormon Church, but run out of time before finishing that subject. Take about 30-minutes to listen in on our discussion. What Does the Bible Say About the Seventh Day Adventist Church #2?

Send us Fan Mail In this episode, we continue our discussion of the Seventh Day Adventist Church denominations doctrines, teachings and views. We begin by noting that they insist on worshipping on the seventh day or Sabbath as was done in the Old Testament. We discuss the fact that Christians in the first century worshipped on the first day of the week and why that was the case. Next we noted their teaching on baptism as compared to what the New Testament says about that. We note that they teach the inspiration of the Bible, but much of what they do is according to Ellen G. White's teaching. They term what they teach and do as , The Simplicity of Living, and have specified specific rules for their members to go by. They teach that man must be vegetarians like Adam and Eve were in the garden of Eden. We discuss what the New Testament says about what we can and cannot eat. We begin an introduction of the Christian Church, but run out of time. We will pick that subject up in the next episode. Take about 30-minutes to listen in on our discussion. What Does the Bible Say About the Seventh Day Adventist Church?

Send us Fan Mail The Seventh Day Adventist Church is a very large, international denomination. It is among 5 other Adventist denominations who grew out of the efforts of William Miller in 1831 In Massachusetts. In 1833 Miller began preaching that the end of the world was at hand and predicted the second coming of Christ to occur in about 1843 and that His personal thousand year reign would begin at that time. , By 1840, Adventism was a significant religious movement By 1843, they had increased to the point they became a loose organization, the sign of a new and developing sect. We discuss some of the things that were occurring at this time including Miller's setting the exact date of the Lord's return. We look at what happened when the Lord failed to return as predicted. We note that in spite of the failed prediction, there was still a sizeable group that formed the American Millerite Association. We talk about how Ellen G White became the leader of the Seventh Day branch of Adventism and the fact that her writings about her dreams formed the basis of Seventh Day Adventism. We conclude this episode by noting some of the doctrines, teachings and views of this denomination. Several others will be looked at in our next podcast. What Does the Bible Say About the Baptist Church #2?

We look into their belief in eternal security or the impossibility of one falling away once he is saved. We talk about a number of passages that refute this teaching. We move on to note that the Lord's church was not established while John the Baptizer was alive. It was on Pentecost, a number of years after John died. We discuss John T. Hiscox's declaration in his Standard Manual For Baptist Churches on pg 62 that salvation is, "solely through faith". We discuss several passages that clearly show this teaching to be wrong. We conclude this episode by noting a number of errors taught and believed by the Baptist Church concerning baptism. Take about 30-minutes to listen in on our discussion. What Does the Bible Say About the Baptist Church?

Today there are more than twenty Baptist denominations. We talk about when and where John Smyth or Smith first organized a Baptist Church. We note that there were two types of Baptists in the early days of the church's existence. We discuss those different groups. We next look at the establishment of the Baptist Church in America in 1639 and where that occurred. A number of Baptist writers wrote about where the name Baptist came from as used by Baptists. We look at those writings. We next note how the Baptist Church today view confessions of faith and human creeds. We move on to talk about some doctrines, teachings and views of the Baptist Church such as divine election, predestination and eternal security.
