    EP 102: Intelligence vs Wisdom: Knowing What to Do With What You Know

    What is the difference between intelligence and wisdom? We often use the words interchangeably, but they are not the same. Intelligence can tell you what is happening, help you analyse a situation, and even give you the words to win an argument. Wisdom asks a different question: What should I do with what I know? In this episode, I share a personal experience involving my son's football team that challenged me to choose between reacting to something that genuinely bothered me and exercising wisdom for the sake of the bigger picture. Sometimes, wisdom means recognising that being right isn't the most important thing. We explore what it means to: Understand the difference between intelligence and wisdom Know when to speak and when to remain silent Respond rather than react Recognise when our ego is driving our response Consider the consequences before making a decision Exercise emotional maturity and discernment Know when confrontation is necessary and when restraint is wiser Stop feeling the need to prove that we're right Trust that sometimes people's behaviour will reveal itself without us having to expose it.

    EP 101: The Trap of Comparison - What to do when you feel behind.

    Comparison is one of the easiest traps to fall into and one of the hardest to recognise. We live in a world where we are constantly exposed to other people's achievements, relationships, lifestyles, careers, families and seemingly perfect lives. Social media has made it possible to compare our ordinary, behind-the-scenes reality with someone else's carefully curated highlights. But comparison doesn't just make us feel inadequate. It can distort how we see ourselves, how we see others, and even how we see what God is doing in our own lives.     Good Morning Tony: Cultural Intelligence in a Changing World Episode Overview What happens when Gen Z meets traditional African expectations of respect? A recent viral moment involving Nigerian businessman Tony Elumelu sparked a much bigger conversation. During a conference setting, a young woman addressed him as "Tony," and he immediately corrected her, explaining that she should address him as "Mr Elumelu" or "TOE." For some people, his response was completely understandable: in many African cultures, addressing an older or more senior person by their first name can be perceived as disrespectful. For others, the young woman's behaviour wasn't disrespectful at all. She may simply have been operating within a modern workplace culture where first-name communication signals equality, accessibility and professionalism. So who was right? In this episode of Icandemy Podcast, we use this viral moment to explore a bigger issue: cultural intelligence in a rapidly changing world. We Explore 1. What Does Respect Sound Like? Why do titles such as Sir, Ma, Chairman, Doctor, and Mr carry so much significance in African societies? Is respect found in the words we use, our behaviour, or both? 2. Gen Z and the Culture They Inherited Has Gen Z become disrespectful, or are they simply communicating according to a different cultural framework? We explore the influence of social media, globalisation and Western workplace culture on how younger generations communicate. Cultural intelligence doesn't mean abandoning who you are. It means understanding who you're talking to. 3. Redefining Respect Perhaps the real question isn't whether young people or older people are right.
