    #202 - Phillies Sweating the Summertime BLOOZ // Iggles Pre Seezin // Siked Up Sixers

    We take YOU on vacation with US at Hoagie Mouth folks. Reporting in from the lovely Adirondacks, our host Jeff leads the classic lineup of the Long Brothers as we delve into Philadelphia sports, again, week after week, until we stop. Which is never. FIRST UP we PHRET about the Phillies and their potential slide towards....MISSING THE PLAYOFFS? Hey, it's encouraging that they have 5 wins in a row under their belt, but with the division still over 5 games away...and a crowded crew battling for the wild card....is ANY lead safe? We're not entirely sure, and Bob and Jeff worry about the mental health of the baseball fanbase if the Phils somehow miss October this year. Next up - it's exciting Eagles times because we are finally 33% through the pre-season games. Sure, we got smoked by the Ravens, but what we've been seeing in camp is certainly giving us reason to be encouraged overall. Let's see who breaks through, and who is on the choppin block. And we start our Sixers excitement right away, marveling at what a jewel this offseason has been. Can ya belive this starting lineup? We better win it all man.     #201: The Golden Era of Philly Sports // Googly Eyes Update

    It ain't all doom and gloom on this podcast. Are we pulling the wool over our eyes when we talk about Philly DOMINANCE in sports recently? We don't think so. On Hoagie Mouth, we get into the nitty, and the GRITTY, of Philly professional sports. This week - as we rocket right past episode 200 - we cover the latest on the (frankly confounding) Phillies as the trade deadline recedes into the rear view mirror. We get Arraez (go ahead, give it your best pronunciation) and a couple of bullpen pieces - but does that do the trick? We are 1-1 with our new 2nd baseman, but he sure seems fired up to be here. Time to focus on the rest of the billion dollar bats on this team! Gotta score, bub. Next we tackle the non-tackling times in Eagles training camp. Yo, we are like 9 days away from the first preseason game! So that means it's time to focus on who gets the googly eyes going in to the new football season. Is it the offense, the defense, QB1?     #200 - Gene Simmons and the King of Basketball // Training Camp Kinks // Plunging Phils

    We held back for a couple of weeks. We debated about what to do. But we finally said FUGGIT it's time to pod, even if it's a long meandering one! FOR OUR 200th EPISODE FOLKS! Hoagie Mouth is BACK with the biggest takes on the biggest news to hit Philly in years. Lebron James is now a Philadelphia 76er. WILD doesn't even begin to cover it! We delve deep into the moves that the squad has made in the offseason. And now we have the all time leading NBA scorer on our team...for what, maybe THREE YEARS? Kinda crazy. Next up - Eagles training camp thoughts as Hurts shows up to lead this team into another winning season. Does he have the brotherhood of the locker room all locked up? Or is he NOT one of the "dudes" on the team? Do we have an all-time defense? We just might. First preseason game is in 2 weeks, if you can frickin believe it. GO BIRDS. And lastly (because, um, they are playing like it), the reeling Phils as they look to solve, like, all sorts of holes in the hull at the same time. Will the bullpen meltdown this game? CHECK. Did we score 17 runs one game and then no more than 2 for the next five games? YOU BETCHA. Are we STILL talking about getting Byron Buxton for all of our farm prospects? HELLS YES. Time to get hot in August, Phils....or else we might be on the outside looking in. Insane to think that's the path, when we were riding so high at the ASG. Here's to 2000 more shows!     #199 - We Have a New Jaylen // Flyers Sheeting All Over

    Look folks, whether it's the DAWG days of summer, or the winter doldrums, sometimes the Hoagie Mouth crew got STUFF to do. So we apologize for being off the radar for a spell. But LOOK! We had NEWS! First off, Mike walks us through the Sixers end of season "I guess we can run it back" vibes, up to the blockbuster move to acquire Jaylen Brown from the Celtics in return for Paul George and some draft picks. Essentially a trade that made the collective NBA universe go HUH? But we'll take it! All is forgiven Jaylen, for all the things. We dive into what this new look team has going for it...stay tuned for summer league, you know Mike will be watching. Next up, Bob takes us through the status of the Phillies, who are approaching (and HOSTING!) the All Star Break. Look, we may get mauled by some of the worst teams in baseball at times, and our starting pitching MAY be slipping a bit....but at least the Braves are taking a nosedive. That is super sweet. And then Jeff gets us into Flyers Phever. The Carlsson offer sheet saga continues (as of this writing, we find out tomorrow), as we wait to see if Anaheim will match the Flyers monster deal for the young superstar center. Again the new leadership making big moves, resetting the market now....along with generous extensions for Vladar (5 years) and Foerster (8 dang years, DANG!).     Sniglets / Not Necessarily the Hoagie Mouth

    Folks, when the summertime gets a'kickin round these parts, sometimes it's TOUGH to get a pod in. But we did it, this time another classic duo of Bob and Jeff. We get it DONE with all things Philadelphia sports. First up - the Phillies as we begin to assess their "defects" as it were. Some issues with our high priced, long term contracts with aging players. But sure, we can all point at Turner and say UGH...and Nola as well. However this squad can still mash (see this weekend's dominating series win against the Mets), and it's still June! Why do they always say "it's still..." in baseball? No matter what month it is? Then we hop headlong into the Flyers and their trade of Ersson and Andrae. Got a good haul in return from the Leafs, in Woll and Benoit. Let's get gassed up for another playoff run boys! I already miss watchng the Flyers, don't you?     #197: No Visuals, But We Check in on the Phillies Officially

    We said - we told you - DON'T check the MLB standings til Memorial Day Weekend! Welp, we are HERE at MDW and the Hoagie Mouth team meets for a boozy brunch to check in on all things BEISBOL. Bob, Mike and Jeff bring you some trenchant insights into "who exactly ARE these Phillies?" We can say they've done well under Donnie Baseball, even turned the ship around a bit. But we're prone to the disappearance of the offense (the weekend was up and down in that regard)....and some of these pitchers REALLY need to get that ERA under 5.00. I mean CMON Nola. Painter, you're young, but wassup? LUZARDO MY DAWG. Let's see what the boys of summer bring to the party, because summer is here folks. Next ,we touch on the perhaps least exciting moment in the NFL season...the OTAs which kick in this week. Mike's not over the moon with excitement, but it does appear that the focus in gonna be on what Sean Mannion brings to the table as OC. for your Philadelphia Eagles.     #197 - Post Mortem of Post Playoff Philly

    We got the OG three back for this one - Bob, Mike and Jeff break down all things Philadelphia sports once again. But this time, we hang out for a bit (hover over?) with the two teams that just got bounced from the second round. First up, the Sixers! It's become a yearly endeavor for local and national media to have their meltdown about this team. It's all over! No one can work with this team! Embiid should be banished from anything sports related! We cut through the hysteria and give a solid "state of the team" analysis. With the latest front office moves (later Morey), it remains to be see what the offseason will be for this squad. Lookin like we're running it back! That may either excite or upset you. NEXT - it was really the heroes of the current Philly sports fans PASSIONS. The Flyers seemed to rally the city, and got a bunch of folks back in to hockey. Listen, it's the fourth most popular team in town overall, but I think the fandom just expanded, and rightfully so. We take stock of the current state of the team (Young! Pretty good! Attractive destination for free agents!), and we look forward to a solid offseason....where my only requirement is for them to figure out how the hell to succeed on the power play.     #196 - Second Round Playoff Roundtable with HUN

    Folks, we are just gutted that we haven't been able to get to you lately. Heck, I'm posting this as my family is trying to get out the door to head to the beach. THERE'S ONLY SO MUCH TIME, but for Philly sports action, we will MAKE TIME. We are BACK with the reality of both the SIXERS and the FLYERS making it to the second round of the playoffs. Delco's own HUN joins us to tell of his magical game 6 experience vs the Celtics at the X Mob. We came back in improbable fashion to bury Boston, but as we've seen, the Knicks are a different entity. Down 3-0, desperation time. LITERALLY in the same situation, we even live look in at the Flyers (Zegras SCORES), but then there was very little to celebrate after that. ALSO down 3-0 against a dominant Carolina squad, coached by a legendary Flyer...it's just, too on the nose. So we much punch the Canes in the nose if we have a hope to dig out of this hole.
