Podcast - JonBenet Ramsey - The Ransom Note - Ep3

Show notes - Episode 3 CHARLIE INVESTIGATES The JonBenét Ramsey Investigation Episode 3: The Ransom Note A handwritten ransom note. Nearly three pages long. A demand for $118,000. And one of the most controversial pieces of evidence in the JonBenét Ramsey investigation. In Episode 3 of Charlie Investigates, retired law-enforcement officer Charlie takes a closer look at the ransom note discovered inside the Ramsey home on the morning of December 26, 1996. Rather than beginning with theories about who wrote it, we follow the evidence. We examine the unusual length and language of the note, the $118,000 ransom demand and its connection to John Ramsey's bonus, and what the wording may—or may not—tell us about its author. Then we follow the physical evidence. What did police do with the ransom note that morning? When was it taken into evidence? When did investigators begin examining writing materials from inside the Ramsey home? And why did the discovery that the paper apparently originated from a writing pad inside the house become such an important development? We also examine the reported practice beginning on the pad, missing pages, the writing instrument, and the later forensic examination of the document. And we make an important distinction: What did investigators actually know that morning—and what was learned later? Along the way, Charlie Crimebuster's Crazy Crook of the Week demonstrates an important investigative lesson when a bank robber leaves behind a demand note written on a piece of paper that helps lead investigators directly back to him. It's a lighter story—but one with a serious investigative point: Sometimes what is written on a note isn't the only evidence. Sometimes you have to ask what the note was written on. In the JonBenét Ramsey investigation, the ransom note didn't simply communicate a demand. The note itself became evidence. Join us as we continue to separate documented evidence from speculation and ask the questions investigators had to confront. Follow the evidence—wherever it leads. Charlie Investigates examines publicly available records, reporting, interviews, court documents, and other source material. Discussion of evidence, investigative decisions, and competing theories should not be interpreted as an accusation of guilt against any individual who has not been convicted of a crime. Podcast - JonBenet Ramsey - The House on 15th Street ep 2

Charlie shares the day that changed the crime scene forever on this episode.  In episode 2 of Charlie Investigates, Charlie reconstructs the critical hours between 5:52 a.m. 911 call and the discovery of JonBenet shortly after 1:00 p.m. We also examine an important investigative distinction.  There is a difference between searching a house and clearing a house.  Why wasn't the room where JonBenet was eventually found completely cleared earlier?  What happened as friends, victim advocates and others moved through a residence that police did not yet realize contained a homicide scene?  And once the expected ransom call failed to come, should investigators have started questioning the assumption that JonBenet had ever left the house?  Finally we follow the investigation downstairs  as John Ramsey opens the basement room, discovers his daughter, carries her upstairs-changing the crime scene forever.  In this Episode:  The 5:52 a.m. 911 call and the first police response Officer Rick French's initial search of the Ramsey home The latched basement door Detective Linda Arndt's arrival and the rasom-call preparations Why the expected 8:00-10:00 a.m. telephone call mattered Fleet White's basement search The difference between a search and a systematic clearance Why police presence inside the house decreased The decesion to send John Ramsey and Fleet White through the home The discovery of JonBenet How moving the body affected the orginal crime scene What invesgitators could have done differently-without the benefit of hindsight  Next Time on Charlie Investigates:  Episode 3-the Ransom Note Three handwritten pages. A demand for $118,000.00. Paper and a pen connected to the Ramsey Home.  We will examine the Ransom note as evidence-its origin, wording, handwrititng and unusual details -and seperate what the document actually tells us from decades of speculation about who wrote it Charlie Investigates Follow the evidence-not the spectulation     Contact Charlie: Charliecrimebuster@gmail.com  Support: www.peacemakernetwork.com  Youtube: www.youtube.com/@charliecrimebuster Music and Sound Effects: www.pixabay.com

In the premiere episode of Charlie Investigates: The JonBenet Ramsey Case, we begin where every investigation should begin--not with theories, suspects, or decades of speculation, but with the timeline and the evidence.  We reconstruct the final known hours before six-year-old JonBenet Ramsey was reported missing and examine what we can establish about the Ramsey family's movements after returning home from Christmas dinner at the White's residence.  What happened inside the Ramsey home that night? Who was awake---and when?  What do the family members' accounts tell us?  What was happening in and around the house?  And...what can we actually verify more than three decades later?  We'll also examine important details concering the night after Christmas.  Then we move toward the most important moments in the entire case.: 5:52 a.m. on December 26, 1996, when Patsy Ramsey called 911 and reported her daughter had been kidnapped.  That telephone call would begin an investigation that remains one of America's most debated unsolved murder cases!  Throughout this series, Charlie Investigates will separate documented evidence from recollection, disputed claims, later interpretations, and speculation. We will examine orginal police reports, interviews, court records, investigative documents, and statements from the pople who were there whenever those sources are available. Our standard remains the same:  Follow the evidence-not the speculation.  In this Episode. Podcast - Michelle Parker-The Missing 68 Minutes

Charlie Investigates Michelle Parker: The Missing 68 Minutes For nearly fifteen years, Central Florida mother Michelle Parker has been missing. No body. No confirmed crime scene. And for almost fifteen years—no arrest. Then, in October 2026, Orlando police arrested Michelle's former fiancé, Dale Smith Jr., and charged him with second-degree murder. So what changed? In this special episode of Charlie Investigates, we temporarily step away from our JonBenét Ramsey series and return to Orlando, Florida, to reconstruct Michelle Parker's disappearance and examine the evidence that has kept investigators working this case for nearly fifteen years. At the center of our investigation is a critical 68-minute window. At approximately 3:18 p.m. on November 17, 2011, Michelle's Hummer arrived at the condominium complex where Smith lived and where Michelle was dropping off their twins. At 4:26 p.m., Michelle's brother received a one-word response from her cellphone: "Waterford." But available cellphone information reportedly did not place the phone where that message suggested Michelle was. What happened during those 68 minutes? In This Episode We reconstruct Michelle Parker's final known movements and examine: The 3:18 p.m. arrival at Carter Glen. The mysterious 4:26 p.m. "Waterford" text. The defense timeline placing Dale Smith Jr. and the twins at his parents' residence around 4:30 p.m. Michelle's cellphone movements and its eventual recovery from water near the Belle Isle/Lake Conway area. The 8:55 p.m. surveillance footage showing Michelle's Hummer after its distinctive Glow advertising decals had apparently been removed. The discovery of the abandoned Hummer the following day. Why investigators went from publicly not identifying Smith as a suspect to naming him their primary suspect only days later. The searches that continued for years—including a 2023 search involving ground-penetrating radar. And perhaps most importantly: What changed between 2011 and 2026? Investigators say advances in digital forensics allowed them to reconsider evidence involving phones, computers, vehicles, location information and communications between electronic devices. Police also say additional evidence was developed. But the probable-cause affidavit supporting Smith's arrest remains sealed as this episode is recorded. That means there are questions we cannot yet answer. Who sent the "Waterford" message? Who was driving Michelle's Hummer at 8:55 p.m.? Who removed its identifying decals? Exactly when did Michelle leave Carter Glen? What does the new digital evidence reveal? And what evidence finally convinced investigators and prosecutors that they could pursue a murder charge without recovering Michelle's remains? We also look beyond Michelle's case for a brief reminder that other Central Florida families continue waiting for answers in missing-women cases, including Jennifer Kesse, Robertyne Sulfranc and Nicole Baldwin. We are not suggesting these cases are connected. They are separate investigations involving different circumstances. But behind every missing-person case is a family waiting for answers. Important Case Status Dale Smith Jr. has pleaded not guilty. An arrest is not a conviction, and Smith is presumed innocent unless and until the prosecution proves the charges against him beyond a reasonable doubt. Charlie Investigates will continue following developments in this case, including the eventual release of the probable-cause affidavit. Because after almost fifteen years, one question remains unanswered: Where is Michelle Parker? Charlie Investigates
