    The NBL regular season is done and there's plenty to dissect about the Cairns Taipans on The Pikey & Loughz Show with #TalkinTaipans also looking at the #NBL21 Finals and we have a special guest to talk about all the latest happenings. First up on the latest Pikey & Loughz Show, co-hosts Chris Pike and Alex Loughton wrap up the last few games of the season for the Taipans which included a win in the final game in Cairns for the season against the finals bound South East Melbourne Phoenix. That all leads into a fascinating discussion about Mojave King and his season as a Next Star with the Taipans and also discussing some of the other seasons of players including big finish of Nate Jawai, emergence of Tad Dufelmeier and consistency of Scott Machado. The inevitable discussion then comes about the departure of Mike Kelly as Taipans coach after three seasons. We have an in-depth discussion about the circumstances behind that before Loughz runs his thoughts over potential replacements. That list featured Jamie O'Loughlin, Jamie Pearlman, Mick Downer, Adam Forde, CJ Bruton, Rob Beveridge and Adam Caporn. It's then time for our special guest for this week and Loughz catches up with the man who is Australian basketball's most distinguished and respected journalist, the one and only Boti Nagy.     We are back on The Pikey & Loughz Show, we're Talkin' Taipans and there's plenty of ground to cover with all the latest from the Cairns Taipans as we look ahead to two big upcoming games while catching up with a special guest. Basketball writer Chris Pike and Cairns Taipans legend Alex Loughton team up once again to bring you The Pikey & Loughz Show to break down all things Cairns Taipans in the NBL. We begin with discussions over the most recent games for the Snakes in #NBL21 including a win at home against the Adelaide 36ers, and then two competitive efforts at home and away over Easter against the championship favourite Melbourne United. We also discuss the knee injury to Kouat Noi and talk about the players we are enjoying stepping up right especially Jordan Ngatai who is in career-best NBL form. We also talk about the important roles the likes Mojave King, Jarrod Kenny, Nate Jawai and even Tad Dufelmeier continue to play. It's then time for our special guest for this week and Loughz catches up with an older junior WA teammate of his, a former Perth Wildcats teammate and now the current head coach of the Centre of Excellence and who coached the Australian Boomers in Cairns back in February, Adam Caporn. It's always fascinating to hear ex-teammates catch up but this is a particularly special discussion about the amount of young talent we have in Australia and why Adam Caporn is the ideal man to be coaching and developing them.     The NBL Cup is behind us and we wrap it all up on another big episode of The Pikey & Loughz Show as go Talkin' Taipans and discuss everything surrounding the Cairns Taipans as we now look ahead to two more challenging road games. Basketball Writer Chris Pike and all-time Taipans great Alex Loughton team up once more on another episode of The Pikey & Loughz and discuss how things went for the Cairns Taipans at the NBL Cup in Melbourne with a focus on those last two games against the New Zealand Breakers and and South East Melbourne Phoenix. Talking with the perspective that only comes from 311 games played in the NBL and 249 of those at the Taipans, Loughz offers his thoughts on if finals are still possible this season and why he wants to see plans starting for next season already including an increased role for Next Star Mojave King. We then hear from coach Mike Kelly and superstar Cam Oliver with Loughz offering his reaction to Mike's calling out of Cam and Scott Machado to take better care of the ball, and also Oliver talking about some of the struggles he has been having but taking account for those in front of his teammates. We then discuss the NBL Cup as a whole with Loughz giving his verdict on whether it was a success or not, and if it should stay a regular feature or not. There's plenty of ground to cover for Chris Pike and Alex Loughton surrounding the Cairns Taipans on this week's show and we begin our discussions by focusing on the start to the NBL Cup which resulted in two strong performances resulting in an inspired win over the Illawarra Hawks and narrow loss to Melbourne United. We also discuss the injury to Majok Deng and what it means for the Taipans before we turn our attention to the special guest for this week. It's none another than former star point guard and someone now making waves on the coaching scene, none other than Kerry Williams. We have a fascinating discussion talking about his time with the Boomers last week, his coaching ambitions, reflecting on his playing career, his thoughts on the Taipans currently, the growth in Indigenous Basketball led by Patty Mills, and of course we get his thoughts on Alex Loughton.     The Cairns Taipans got back to winning in the NBL and we are back on The Pikey & Loughz with Talkin' Taipans to discuss what we liked from while looking ahead to the Snakes heading to Melbourne and we also hear from one of the club's more popular figures, Matt Smith. The Pikey & Loughz Show begins this week with a look at the two games for the Cairns Taipans in Round 4 of #NBL21. It started with a tough sixth straight defeat on Saturday against the New Zealand Breakers but then two days later the Snakes produced their best performance of the 2021 NBL season to bounce back and beat the Breakers by 15 points and return to the NBL winner's list. Loughz provides his unique insight into what he liked from the win including the performances of George Blagojevic, Kouat Noi and Majok Deng to relieve some of the pressure on superstars Cam Oliver and Scott Machado. We then have our votes in the MVP Tracker thanks to Cairns Total Physio and then it's time for our interview of the week thanks to Stattons Plumbing Company. This week that means looking back on the two Round 3 #NBL21 losses for the Taipans against the Hawks and Brisbane Bullets. We look at the good and bad from those games, look at what worked and what didn't, and what the Taipans can look to do moving forward to return to the winner's list. It's then time for our special guest and it's none other than 309-NBL game legend, championship winner and all-round good guy, the one and only Dusty Rychart. He was an old foe and teammate of Loughz and it's always fun to hear two former rivals and teammates reconnect and have a discussion with one another. Dusty also provides his thoughts on the Bullets-Taipans game he was at in person while offering some thoughts on Cairns this season while reflecting back on his remarkable playing career and updating us on what life is now like for him.
