While the Lovecraft stories can be devoured in there entirety over the course of a week, you’d be hard-pressed to complete the letters in such a short space of time. Enter Voluminous. The letters are read and recorded in eloquence and clarity, while discussions are held with great passion. It’s obvious that the creators truly care to presenting the material in an entertaining and factual way, thus rousing the enthusiasm and passion within us all. The material is endless, so hopefully the podcast will be around for a very long time.
RE- long time listener here. I’d recommend skipping the discussions, it adds nothing to the letters other than you can here the views of two white men, who are obsessed with people knowing how woke they are. They’re abit fanboy-ish, dated would be Netflix writer room Hollywood types. I think they believe themselves to be philosophically and ethically sound, and Lovecraft out of his depth in everything. However, after continuous listening, I don’t think much erudition, or insight is to be had. Sure, we all know the elephant in the room, but they want you to know that they’re white and hate themselves for it. I’d wager, they laugh harder at their own jokes, than any other podcast listener. Their politics are just a variant on American exceptionalism, brushing themselves of their inadequacies by underpinning all discussions with how in the know they are by obsessing about race. Very Californian and dull. That being said, the readings are still great.
