Ep. 322: Excavation: New Wave Of British Heavy Metal Part V

This week, the lads hop across the pond to continue excavating denim and leather. It’s all about the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal! The NWOBM movement was filled with passionate bands that were poised to take over the world. Unfortunately, most of them didn’t make it to the level of Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, or Saxon. Hopefully, we can help spread the word and sounds for those who didn’t. What’s this InObscuria thing? We’re a podcast that exhumes obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal and puts them in one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. This week we discuss the LOST. For such a small island, they sure had a lot of amazing bands that set the standards for what is known as heavy metal. From the music, to the fashion, to the attitude… Over 45-years ago, these bands started an underground movement that would change hard rock and metal forever. Songs this week include: More – “Warhead” from Warhead (1981) DEMON – “Night Of The Demon” from Night Of The Demon (1981) Grim Reaper – “Run For Your Life” from See You In Hell (1983)  Bronz – “Heat Of The Night” from Taken By Storm (1983) Witchfynde – “Give ‘Em Hell” from Give ‘Em Hell(1980) Marseille – “Rock You Tonight” from Marseille (1979) Aragorn – “Black Ice” from The Neat Singles Collection Vol. 1 (1981) Buy cool stuff with our logo on it!:InObscuria Store Visit us: https://inobscuria.com/ https://www.facebook.com/InObscuria https://x.com/inobscuria https://www.instagram.com/inobscuria/ Check out Robert’s amazing fire sculptures and metal workings here: http://flamewerx.com/ If you’d like to check out Kevin’s band THE SWEAR, take a listen on all streaming services or pick up a digital copy of their latest release here: https://theswear.bandcamp.com/ If you want to hear Robert and Kevin’s band from the late 90s – early 00s BIG JACK PNEUMATIC, check it out here: https://bigjackpnuematic.bandcamp.com/

Ep. 321: Beginnings - Before They Were Beasts

This week, we go deep into the past of mainstream artists to uncover what many of them have hidden: their beginnings! We are talking about bands and artists who have sold millions of albums; however, their formative years were drastically different from those for which they became famous. They will remain buried no longer! We will shine a light on their beginnings, before they were beasts! This episode is brought to you by the help of our new AI Automated Staff here at InObscuria. While we appreciate the attempts of the machine to help bring you, the listener, meaningful content, this was indeed a failed experiment that we will not repeat. In any case, enjoy the beginnings of these artists within. Hopefully, we turned you on to something new! Ep. 320: Grave Mistake: EDGUY Shoulda Been Huge!!! Part 1

This week, we’re talking about a guy? What guy? EDGUY of course! Another edition of our “Grave Mistakes: They Shoulda Been Huge!!!” from a band we covered on our last power metal episode late last year. A band that Kevin affectionately calls “Helloween Jr.”, this is another German powerhouse power metal juggernaut that is unique to the genre. They are epic and powerful! A band that is anthemic, dramatic, uplifting, and rallying, with a sense of humor as well! This episode is rooted in our Should Have Been category. A German band that followed in the footsteps of Helloween, flying the flag of “Power Metal” from the late 90s to 2014. Unfortunately, they were never really recognized to the degree they deserve outside of Europe. We think they SHOULD BE HUGE… and we are ready to fly that banner proudly! Songs this week include: Edguy - “Heart Of Twilight” from Kingdom Of Madness (1997)Edguy - “Vain Glory Opera” from Vain Glory Opera (1998)Edguy - “Falling Down” from Theatre Of Salvation (1999)Edguy - “Power & Majesty” from The Savage Poetry (2000)Edguy - “Tears Of A Mandrake” from Mandrake (2001)Edguy - “Fallen Angels (Live)” from Burning Down The Opera (2003)Edguy - “Holy Water” from King Of Fools - EP (2004)Buy cool stuff with our logo on it!:InObscuria Store Visit us: https://inobscuria.com/ https://www.facebook.com/InObscuria https://twitter.com/inobscuria https://www.instagram.com/inobscuria/   Check out Robert’s amazing fire sculptures and metal workings here: http://flamewerx.com/ If you’d like to check out Kevin’s band THE SWEAR, take a listen on all streaming services or pick up a digital copy of their latest release here: https://theswear.bandcamp.com/ If you want to hear Robert and Kevin’s band from the late 90s – early 00s BIG JACK PNEUMATIC, check it out here: https://bigjackpnuematic.bandcamp.com/
