Wildcatdojo Conversations

Sensei Michelle

Karate is for everyone. So, join us each week for a 20 to 25 minute conversation on all types of subjects. We go from managing the distractions of daily life, through martial arts history and people, and common sense concepts to add to your self defense armor. Plus we have interviews and so much more. After spending over 40 years discussing life's challenges in a dojo, (both as a student and as a teacher) I decided it would be fun to share the conversations with everyone. And it is! We're having a great time with our guests each week thinking, talking and very importantly sharing a laugh or two along the way.

Talking Adamant, Ai and Actionless Action - Letter A Abounds

The first thing we say as the episode opens is that we love Letter Episodes; exploring ideas and not really sure where the conversation is going to go. The 3 of us talk, laugh and learn.  The conversation travels all over the place. Let's start with a term used often in America in the dojo - oos (This spelling is a nod to Master Kelljchian. It's commonly spelled osu). Back in 2019, we did a 5 minute short on the word osu and you can listen to it here: https://www.buzzsprout.com/477379/episodes/1979593 During our discussions of "ai" we touched on Aikido and Adapt. Both words were introduced back in 2023 in another "A" episode. Here's that link:  https://www.buzzsprout.com/477379/episodes/12613429 And finally. The number 3 was one of my favorite epiosdes, and a favorite number....so I'm tagging that episode in also. Stories, Laughter and Mistakes from the Past Six Months

I love that I don't discard our mistakes. I love sharing them and I especially love the chance to bring back guest stories. We have plenty and here are some of the episodes we're referencing.  In the first few minutes we mention the term wabi sabi. Here's one of our episodes on that: https://www.buzzsprout.com/477379/episodes/16898149 Just in case you missed some episodes in the last 6 months, here are some  that provided the laughter today. Opinions Abound on this Letter O Episode

Welcome to another Letter episode. Today we're with Sensei Derek discussing over-extension, outside blocks and more. During today's discussion we mention that it might be fun to tag an old letter episode into the notes. I decided to tag our first letter episode, which is from 2021: https://www.buzzsprout.com/477379/episodes/8108455 Also, along the way Sensei Derek brings up a great old saying: What we do alot of we become very good at. We did an episode on that. Here it is: https://www.buzzsprout.com/477379/episodes/1891706 I always think of you, the listener, when working on the show, From figuring out guests, to content, to uploads. Dexterity: Another Page From 365 Days of the Warrior

We love doing these homages to Master Kelljchian's thoughts and wisdom. This quote is directly related to weapon's dexterity. But, with Sensei Derek's help, we travel all over the place with it. (What else is new!).  I'll tag 3 episodes here. First off we reviewed Master Kelljchian's book 365 Days of the Warrior in 2021. Here's a link: https://www.buzzsprout.com/477379/episodes/7049776 Much of what we discuss relates back to self-defense. We've done a number of episodes about this subject. This one is from 2020, with Sensei Jay: https://www.buzzsprout.com/477379/episodes/3293584 And finally, we do "letter" episodes and dexterity made the cut back in 2022 during a Letter D episode. (Of course!). They're fun to hear so listen here: https://www.buzzsprout.com/477379/episodes/11170566 Each week we remind you that we have this link to support our work. If you have a moment - go for it! We appreciate our listeners. That cannot be overstated.
