    #405: My Race🏁 Against⏰️TIME..

Send us Fan Mail You can wake up early, grind all day, and still feel like you’re losing to the clock. I’m talking straight about that constant race against time: 4 AM mornings, training judo and jujitsu, getting workouts in, working a full-time job, writing a book, chasing stand-up comedy sets, and trying to keep up with family and life responsibilities without burning out. The real enemy isn’t a lack of ambition, it’s procrastination hiding in “harmless” places. I unpack why scrolling in bed feels so awful after the fact, why the snooze button is basically a built-in option to delay, and why the smallest time leaks can wreck your momentum. I also dig into The War of Art and the idea of Resistance, using a spiritual lens to describe the battle between the part of you that’s called to build and the part that wants to stall. If you’ve ever felt self-sabotage show up right before a big opportunity, you’ll recognize it. The big takeaway is simple: there’s no neutral. You’re moving forward or you’re moving backward, even when you think you’re standing still. I share the “moving walkway” metaphor, the daily reset reality that makes yesterday’s wins irrelevant, and the practical 1% habit that helps me execute when I don’t feel like it. We also bring it back to relationships, because that extra 1% can look like putting down your phone, hugging your partner, or giving real encouragement. If you want better productivity, stronger discipline, and a mindset that holds up every morning, listen through to the end, then subscribe, share with a friend who needs a push, and leave a review. #403: Being "Good Busy" & Remaining Consistent.

Send us Fan Mail Momentum doesn’t feel like a hashtag when it’s 11 PM, your alarm is set for 4 AM, and you’re still squeezing in one more page. We’re checking in with a candid update after a short stretch of being offline, owning the fact that consistency slipped and naming what we’re doing about it. If you’ve been trying to balance ambition with real life, this one hits close: the goal isn’t perfection, it’s forward motion. We talk about what “good busy” looks like right now, including a big stand-up comedy milestone: headlining a show in Grand Prairie, Texas on Friday, September 25th. We also share a major creative win years in the making: a feature film screenplay built from years of research, finally edited and submitted for copyright, then reshaped into a novel. You’ll hear how we’re thinking about the next steps, from seeking publishers to making smart choices like starting with a digital book release when funds are tight. Along the way, we touch on the grind behind the dream: training, day job demands, personal obligations, and new acting opportunities that mean memorizing lines and monologues on top of everything else. The throughline is discipline, gratitude, and the belief that momentum is key, especially when motivation comes and goes. If this sparked something in you, subscribe, share the episode with a friend, and leave a quick review. What are you building right now? #402: Be The Hammer 🔨 - Not the nail.

Send us Fan Mail “Be the hammer, not the nail” sounds like a slogan until you’ve got someone’s weight across your chest and you have to figure out a way out. That quick jiu jitsu moment is the spark for a bigger conversation about mindset, resilience, and what it really takes to move forward when life feels heavy. I share how a simple reversal on the mat becomes a reminder that progress almost always starts with action, not wishing, not waiting, and definitely not freezing.  We dig into the uncomfortable truth behind self improvement: nobody becomes great without losing first. Being second place, getting outworked, or realizing you’re not there yet can either crush you or sharpen you. I also talk about using clear metrics to improve, whether that’s in training, fitness, or creative work like stand-up comedy. Growth is easier to chase when you can measure it, and it’s more sustainable when you focus on being better than yesterday instead of comparing yourself to everyone else.  Then we get practical about time management and productivity. You don’t “find time,” you create time by cutting waste and, if needed, starting your day earlier. Life isn’t just work and sleep, it’s a full mix of physical health, mental health, emotional balance, relationships, and ambition. If you want to protect what matters and become harder to break under pressure, jiu jitsu is one of the clearest teachers I know.  If this hits home, subscribe, share the episode with a friend, and leave a quick review. #399: Using Fear, As A Compass - For What's Important.

Send us Fan Mail Fear doesn’t always mean danger. Sometimes it’s your internal compass pointing straight at the thing you care about most. We unpack a simple, practical reframe that turns “I’m scared” into “this is important,” and we show how that shift changes what you do next, whether you’re chasing a relationship, a career move, a creative goal, or a personal challenge you’ve been avoiding. We also dig into the hidden logic behind taking risks: if you do nothing, the answer is already no. If you try and fail, the answer is still no. So the only outcome you can’t get through silence is yes. That lens helps take the sting out of rejection and failure, because it highlights what’s real: progress comes from swinging, not from waiting for perfect timing or perfect confidence. From there, we challenge the way we use the word “difficult,” arguing it often just means “new” or “I don’t have reps yet.” We connect that to bold goal setting and mindset tools like the 10X Rule and the high-performance mentality associated with David Goggins, plus the power of writing goals down so your thinking turns into results you can measure. We close with a push to stop being reactive and start creating opportunities on purpose, especially when fear shows up at the door. If this mindset helps you, subscribe, share the show with a friend, and leave a quick review. What’s one “important” thing you’re going to do this week even if you feel the fear?
