The NBA has handed the Los Angeles Clippers a massive punishment following its investigation into salary-cap circumvention involving Kawhi Leonard — and the consequences could eventually have a major impact on former Illinois star Keaton Wagler. The Clippers will forfeit FIVE consecutive first-round draft picks from 2029 through 2033, pay a $30 million fine, and deal with major organizational suspensions. Wagler didn't do anything wrong, and none of the punishment changes his rookie contract or his place with the Clippers after Los Angeles selected him fifth overall in the 2026 NBA Draft. But it DOES change the resources Los Angeles will have available to eventually build a championship contender around him.
