Best Wishes with Artem Shlaine
Season 5 Episode 56 of the Chasing MacNaughton Podcast from Tech Hockey Guide, "Best Wishes" This week Tim Braun, Dustin Lindstrom, Rob Gilreath, and Matt Cavender were joined by Artem Shlaine, the 2023-24 Captain of the Northern Michigan Wildcats. Last week, an April Fools Satirical story turned mostly true as NMU has 14 players in the NCAA Transfer Portal. Artem Shlaine originally reached out to get us to correct the April Fools story because it had him turning pro by signing a deal with Utah in the ECHL. It was done in good fun but that led to some conversations and Shlaine agreed to come on the podcast to talk about his career, the April Fool Story, the transfer poral, NMU Hockey and coach Grant Potulny. It was a great conversation and a wonderful insight into the transfer portal for any fan struggling to understand why players might be making the decision to enter the portal.

Mayo Maniacs Honest impression
What up huskies. I’m writing this from the Underground Bar in downtown kato. Whisky/cokes are strong, and it’s time I said something nice about MTU. I’ll forever think that we should have won a couple weekends ago, but hey that Ight bruh. Totally killer production you guys have here, love hearing some honesty. Getting opposing team’s fans, media folk, and the important folk in college/CCHA on the pod is incredible. Absolutely love to hear about this stuff from a different perspective.
Needless to say, roll Mavs…but you guys chill.

Better and better
I learn an awful lot about college hockey from this podcast. It’s not just about MTU but also the CCHA. Very informative without talking down to the listeners.
All Things MTU and Tech Hockey Related
Where else can you hear talk about Joe-isms, Winter Carnival, pasties, Misfits, and happenings with Tech hockey all recorded in The State of Hockey?
As with every gathering at Tech, there has to be one guy, Matt, who LOVES something that should never exist, 3v3 OT. There is also the obligatory discussion of some random subject that has nothing to do with the main topic, soccer. If you can live with that, you will enjoy this podcast as the guys are passionate, knowledgeable, informative, and have great guests.
