    Shaped By Truth | Peter’s Life & Letters #10

What we truly believe doesn’t just shape what we say—it shapes the way we live. In “Shaped By Truth,” Pastor Jason concludes Peter’s Life & Letters by looking at Peter’s warning about false teachers, scoffers, and the voices that can pull our attention away from Jesus and toward fear, control, money, power, pleasure, and self-rescue. Peter reminds us that following Jesus means more than agreeing with what Jesus said. Our lives should increasingly reflect His life. When we reinterpret Jesus to justify what we already want—or begin believing that God isn’t working because He isn’t working on our timetable—we can slowly lose sight of the eternal reality He has promised. The lie says: No one is coming to save you, so you have to save yourself. The gospel tells a different story: Jesus has already come to rescue us. God’s waiting isn’t wasted time. His patience gives people space to repent, grow, and experience salvation. Our calling is to keep our eyes on Jesus, live peaceful and faithful lives, and continue growing in His grace while we wait. Reflection: Who told you that you had to rescue yourself? Who told you that waiting wasn’t worth it—and why did you believe them? I Will Make You | Peter’s Life & Letters

What if waiting isn’t dead time—but the very place where God is keeping His promise? In “I Will Make You,” Pastor Aaron Powers explores 1 Peter 5:1–11 and 2 Peter 1:3–11 through the story of Peter’s transformation. More than thirty years of failures, suffering, and restoration reveal the faithfulness of Jesus to His promise: “Follow me, and I will make you.” God often does His deepest work slowly. When waiting gets long, we can reach for control, drift away, or assume nothing is happening. Peter reminds us that God Himself is at work—restoring, confirming, strengthening, and establishing us. The invitation is to trust His work even before we can see its results. In this message, we explore letting go of the wheel, holding still, and putting to use what God has already given us. Through Jesus, suffering can shape a life that is unshakeable and unhardened—with a growing capacity to love God and others. Shaped By Suffering | Peter’s Life & Letters

What does it look like to trust God when life hurts—and you’re still waiting for things to change? In “Shaped By Suffering,” Pastor Jason Powers continues through 1 Peter 2:11–4:19, exploring how we follow Jesus through suffering, injustice, disappointment, and pain. Peter doesn’t call suffering good or promise that faith makes difficult things disappear. He reminds us that what we experience now is not the end of the story. Our faith is revealed in how we live while we wait. Instead of allowing pain to lead us toward retaliation, bitterness, or giving up, we’re invited to trust God and keep doing what is right. Jesus is our example, continuing in obedience while trusting what God was accomplishing beyond what could be seen. In this message, we explore obedience when it hurts, freedom from bitterness, and the Body of Christ as God’s provision in suffering. As we love, encourage, comfort, and carry one another, the world gets a glimpse of the hope we have in Jesus. SCRIPTURE 1 Peter 2:11–4:19Ephesians 5:21John 16:33John 9:1–3 REFLECTION Where is God inviting you to trust Him in the middle of something difficult?
