What They Don’t Tell You About Being a Celebrity Stylist | Dolly Jain

Welcome Dolly Jain, India’s celebrated celebrity saree stylist and saree draping expert, to this special edition of HER STORY HER IMPACT by Womenlines, where we spotlight inspiring women who have transformed their talent, passion and expertise into extraordinary success stories. There are some crafts so deeply woven into culture that we rarely stop to consider the artistry behind them. Saree draping is one of them. For Dolly Jain, however, those six yards became much more than tradition. They became a canvas for precision, creativity and reinvention—and ultimately the foundation of an extraordinary professional journey. Today, Dolly Jain is one of India’s most celebrated saree styling artist, known for transforming the way the saree is styled and experienced. From bridal dressing rooms and high-profile celebrations to fashion events and celebrity wardrobes, her work has helped elevate saree draping from a behind-the-scenes skill into a recognised art form. What distinguishes Dolly is not simply the number of styles she can create. It is her ability to understand fabric, silhouette, movement and personality—and bring them together in a drape that feels effortless. Her work is rooted in Indian tradition, yet distinctly contemporary. A saree in her hands can be sculptural, understated, dramatic or modern, while still retaining the grace of the garment itself. Dolly’s journey is particularly compelling because it represents something many women will recognise: the possibility of building an identity and a career from a skill that might initially appear ordinary. What began with an interest in the intricacies of draping evolved through years of practice, experimentation and attention to detail. Dolly continued to push the possibilities of a single length of fabric, developing new styles while mastering traditional ones. Her achievements eventually entered the record books. She has been recognised for draping a saree in 125 different ways by the Limca Book of Records, while other record-book honours have recognised collections of 200 and 225 draping styles. She also holds a world-record title for an extraordinarily fast saree drape—completed in approximately 18.5 seconds. Yet numbers tell only one part of the story. Behind every record is the discipline required to master a craft so thoroughly that movements become almost instinctive. As her reputation grew, Dolly’s artistry began attracting brides, designers, public figures and celebrities seeking something far more specialised than simply “wearing a saree.” They wanted the Dolly Jain drape. That distinction is significant. In an industry often focused on the designer, jewellery or stylist, Dolly helped bring attention to the person responsible for the final architecture of the saree—the pleats, fall, pallu, proportions and countless subtle adjustments that determine how the garment ultimately looks and moves. Her career is therefore also a fascinating story of creating value around specialised expertise. She took a skill traditionally passed informally from one generation to another and developed it into a professional identity—demonstrating how mastery, consistency and personal branding can transform a niche craft into a sought-after service. Over the years, Dolly’s contribution has been recognised across fashion, bridal and women’s achievement platforms. Her honours include the WeddingSutra Beauty Award for Top Bridal Image-Makers, Shashakt Nari Samman, Women’s Achiever’s Award, Jain Ratna Award, Pride of Jain Society Award, Vishisht Samman by Prabhat Khabar, the Devi Award, a Leadership Award, and special recognition from YouTube, among others. She has also received recognition for demonstrating hundreds of draping styles live—further reinforcing the extraordinary breadth of her craft. Through workshops, tutorials and digital platforms, Dolly has taken knowledge that could easily have remained exclusive and made it accessible to a much wider generation.

From “At Risk” to PhD: Dr. Josette Pelatan’s Story Is Not the Success Story You Expect

Welcome to HER STORY, HER IMPACT by Womenlines — where we bring you women whose journeys challenge the way we think about success, resilience and possibility. Today, I’m delighted to welcome Dr. Josette Pelatan — a PhD-trained interdisciplinary scholar, filmmaker, producer, storyteller and founder of JosetteXMP Productions from USA. From once being labelled “at risk” to earning a PhD, and from becoming a patient-researcher to creating deeply personal films such as Homeless with a PhD and The Prostitute’s Daughter, Josette’s journey refuses every conventional definition of what a success story should look like From being labelled “at risk” to earning a PhD, from patient to researcher, and from lived adversity to filmmaking, Dr. Josette Pelatan has built a career around one powerful idea: making the unseen visible. There is no easy way to put Dr. Josette Pelatan into a box. She is a filmmaker and producer, an interdisciplinary health scholar and researcher, an educator, storyteller and social-impact entrepreneur. She is also the founder of JosetteXMP Productions LLC, where some of the most difficult chapters of her own life are becoming the material for films that question how society defines success, vulnerability and human worth. Perhaps that refusal to fit neatly into a category is precisely the point. Pelatan’s life has repeatedly challenged the labels placed upon her. Her academic story began improbably. Pelatan has spoken about being labelled “at risk,” being placed in special education and leaving high school as a teenager. She later earned her GED and continued through higher education, ultimately completing doctoral work in Interdisciplinary Health Sciences at The University of Texas at El Paso. Her education, however, did more than change her résumé. It changed the way she examined her own experiences. After years of difficult-to-characterise health symptoms, Pelatan became deeply involved in understanding her condition, eventually receiving a diagnosis of relapsing MOGAD. Her experience evolved into research and advocacy around patient expertise and the importance of recognising lived experience as a meaningful form of knowledge. The patient had become the researcher. It is a transformation that captures much of Pelatan’s philosophy: make the unseen visible. That philosophy now sits at the centre of her filmmaking. Her documentary in development, Homeless with a PhD, draws from Pelatan’s own experience navigating housing insecurity while continuing to research, teach, advocate, create and build a production company. The juxtaposition is deliberately unsettling. A PhD and homelessness are not supposed to belong in the same sentence. Yet that contradiction allows the film to question simplistic assumptions about homelessness and explore its connections with healthcare, disability, mental health, education, housing, identity and dignity. Her other flagship project, The Prostitute’s Daughter, turns towards family history. The realism-driven feature explores generational trauma, survival, identity and the reclamation of stories too easily defined by others. Pelatan serves across multiple creative roles, including creator, producer, screenwriter and lead actress. Together, the projects reveal what makes JosetteXMP Productions distinctive: an interest in people who are often spoken about by systems but rarely given ownership of the narrative. Perhaps the most compelling aspect of Pelatan’s story is that it refuses the familiar architecture of an inspirational profile. There is no convenient before adversity and after success. Her story is still unfolding. She continues creating while navigating uncertainty. She continues researching while questioning systems. She is developing films while building a company and imagining larger ideas around education, health, housing and human potential.

How Personal Growth for Women Changes Everything!

Let me give you a number that should make you realize importance of personal growth for women. 46%. That is the percentage of women who reported experiencing burnout in a major 2023 survey — compared to just 37% of men. And among senior-level women? A staggering 60% said they frequently felt burned out — the highest figure recorded in five years, according to the McKinsey & LeanIn.Org Women in the Workplace 2025 report, the largest annual study of women in corporate America. And women — who already carry careers, families, relationships, emotional labour, and caregiving on their shoulders simultaneously — added more. They tried harder. They woke up earlier. They pushed through. And still, the burnout numbers climbed. When women invest in their growth — genuinely, sustainably — the results don’t just change their lives. They ripple outward and change everything. Women are also starting businesses at a historic pace. According to the 2024 Wells Fargo Impact of Women-Owned Businesses Report, there are over 14 million women-owned businesses in the US, representing 39.1% of all US businesses and generating $2.7 trillion in revenue. From 2019 to 2023, women-owned businesses’ growth rate outpaced men’s by 94.3% in number of firms. Women started 49% of all new US businesses in 2024 — up from just 29% in 2019. That is not coincidence. That is what happens when women step out of survival mode and into possibility. The most radical thing I can say in a culture obsessed with more is this: for most women right now, personal growth begins with less. The women I have watched transform most profoundly did not begin by adding a new skill or strategy. They began by asking one deceptively simple question: What can I gently let go of so I can breathe again? Mindset is always first, but not in the way most people mean it. It is not about thinking positive. It is about examining which beliefs you absorbed from other people’s fears and which ones are truly yours. A woman who knows the difference becomes almost unstoppable. Emotional intelligence is not a soft skill. It is the hardest skill. Research from Zenger Folkman found that women scored higher than men on 84% of tested leadership competencies — and the areas where women outperformed most strongly were precisely the human ones: developing others, motivating and inspiring, building relationships, collaboration. The world does not have a shortage of women’s capability. It has a shortage of recognising it. Health is not vanity. For women carrying extraordinary loads, their physical body is their most critical and most consistently sacrificed resource. When a woman begins treating her health as non-negotiable rather than aspirational, her energy, focus, and capacity for everything else shifts fundamentally. Confidence — real confidence, not performance — does not come from achieving more. It comes from showing up consistently for yourself. From keeping small promises to yourself. From choosing your own voice in a room that has long been trained to overlook it. Zenger Folkman’s data tells us something beautiful: women’s confidence doesn’t just catch up with men’s — it overtakes it after age 60. The women I know who have done this inner work glow differently at 40, 45, 50. Not despite life’s difficulties, but because of how they walked through them. Self-worth is the deepest shift of all. When a woman stops tethering her value to what she produces, who approves of her, or how much she sacrifices — when she understands in her marrow that she is enough exactly as she is, right now — everything else follows. Boundaries become possible. Relationships deepen or clarify. Work becomes purposeful rather than merely consuming. Life — actual, textured, imperfect life — becomes worth protecting. Here is something I want every woman reading this to understand on a cellular level: your personal growth is not selfish. It is one of the most generous things you can do. Her Story. Her Impact: Why the World Needs to Hear Oksana Kolesnikova’s Journey

Her Story. Her Impact show by Womenlines welcomes Oksana Kolesnikova, entrepreneur, educator, pianist/composer from California in the latest episode. This show was created with one powerful intention:to spotlight extraordinary women across the globe whose journeys are shaping lives, communities, and futures—often quietly, always meaningfully. This show is not about titles or headlines. It is about turning points, values, courage, and impact. From entrepreneurs and educators to leaders and creators, Her Story. Her Impact. brings forward women whose work deserves to be seen, heard, and remembered—because when one woman’s story is shared, countless others find permission to believe in their own. It is in this spirit that Womenlines is honoured to invite Oksana Kolesnikova to Her Story. Her Impact. Oksana’s journey is not just inspiring—it is quietly transformational. She didn’t set out to build a large-scale education ecosystem. She set out to teach piano. As a classically trained pianist and composer, Oksana spent years immersed in discipline, performance, and the intimate process of guiding young students through music—one note, one lesson, one breakthrough at a time. But somewhere between those moments, she saw something many overlook: the power of arts education to shape how children see themselves. That insight changed everything. In 2010, she co-founded Oksana Management Group in California, growing a focused enrichment vision into a comprehensive after-school education platform serving multiple school districts. What began with music expanded into performing arts, STEAM education, athletics, and staffing solutions—yet the heart of the mission remained unchanged. Build creative confidence in children. Some transformations begin on a grand stage.Others begin quietly — with a piano, a child, and a belief in what creativity can unlock. Oksana Kolesnikova belongs to the second kind. A classically trained pianist and composer, Oksana spent years immersed in discipline, performance, and the intimate process of teaching — guiding young students through music one note, one lesson, one breakthrough at a time. Somewhere between those moments, she recognised something many overlook: arts education doesn’t just teach skills; it shapes identity. That insight changed everything. Born in Siberia and raised in a family of educators, Oksana fell in love with the piano at the age of five. By nine, she was winning music competitions. After emigrating to the United States following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, her journey unfolded through rigorous training, scholarships, and performances — all grounded in discipline and persistence. Yet even as her career as an internationally acclaimed pianist flourished, Oksana remained deeply connected to teaching. In her classrooms, creativity was never an “extra.” It was foundational. A missed note wasn’t failure. It was information. This philosophy — shaped by years on stage and in studios — became the backbone of her work.

The Content Shifts You Need to Make If You Want AI to Trust Your Brand

Here’s the thing about AI that nobody’s really talking about: it’s not just changing how people find your content—it’s changing what content gets found at all. If you’re a woman entrepreneur trying to build real visibility online, you’ve probably noticed something shifting. The old playbook—stuff your posts with keywords, build some backlinks, pray to the Google gods—doesn’t work like it used to. And there’s a reason for that. Think about how you search for things now. When you ask ChatGPT a question or use Google’s AI features, you’re not looking for a list of ten blue links anymore. You want an answer. A real one. And the AI decides whose content to trust enough to cite. That’s the game now. AI systems like Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, and Perplexity aren’t just matching keywords. They’re evaluating whether you actually know what you’re talking about. They’re looking at context, authenticity, how well you understand what someone really needs when they search for something. So if your content strategy is still stuck in 2015, it’s time to catch up. Remember when we used to write for search engines? Awkward phrases like “best women entrepreneur tips New York” crammed into every paragraph? Yeah, AI sees right through that now. Instead, think about the actual questions your audience is asking. When someone types “best wellness tips for busy women,” they don’t want a keyword salad. They want someone who gets it—someone who understands what it’s like to be juggling everything and still trying to take care of themselves. Write like you’re having coffee with a friend who just asked you that question. What would you actually tell them? Try this: Next time you sit down to create content, write down the three most common questions your clients ask you. Then answer them. Really answer them. With depth, with examples, with the messy truth. That’s content AI will recognize as valuable. Here’s where a lot of people go wrong. They think authority means writing a bunch of surface-level articles about everything remotely related to their industry. More is better, right? Wrong. AI rewards depth, not breadth. Instead of churning out ten mediocre posts, create one comprehensive resource that becomes the go-to guide on that topic. Think of it like this: would you rather be known as someone who has an opinion on everything, or as the expert people turn to for this one specific thing? AI is making the same calculation. The more formats you show up in, the more ways AI can recommend your content. AI doesn’t fall for tricks. It’s trained on what real users actually find helpful. All those old SEO tactics—keyword stuffing, hidden text, clickbait headlines that promise the world and deliver a listicle—they’re not just ineffective now. They actively hurt you. Focus on being genuinely useful. Ask yourself: if someone finds this content, will it actually help them? Will they leave knowing something they didn’t before? Will they think “finally, someone who gets it”? That’s what AI is trying to surface. Not the most optimized content. The most helpful content. Look, I know this feels like a lot. The rules keep changing, and just when you figure out one platform, everything shifts again. But here’s what doesn’t change: good content that genuinely helps people will always win. Stop writing for search engines. Write for the human who’s struggling with the exact problem you solve. Be specific. Be useful. Be yourself. Because AI is learning to recognize authentic expertise—and your audience already knows it when they see it. Focus on this instead: Creating content that answers real problems, not just captures trafficBuilding genuine authority in your specific niche, not trying to rank for everythingShowing up in multiple formats (video, audio, visuals) so AI can find you everywhereTracking whether AI is citing your content, not just where you rankBeing visible across platforms—social media, videos, publications—be
