She currently serves as the Presiding Bishop of the 5th Episcopal District. She serves as Chair of the Publications Commission and is the new Chair of the General Board Social Action Commission. She previously Served Bishop of the 18th Episcopal District which is comprised of four African Countries. She will be the Keynote Speaker for the June 17 Day of Remembrance of the nine worshippers killed at Mother Emanuel AME Church June 17, 2015. There will be a dinner at 5:30 pm and the program begins at 6:30 pm. *Dr. E. Faye Williams, Esq. comments on her book THIS IS ME, it's her life story. Dr. Williams is a talk show in Washington DC and is a syndicated columnist with Trice Edney Wire, her column appears regularly in the Seattle Medium Newspaper. Dr. Williams has held numerous position with some of the top political leaders in the country. She is the founder of the Dick Gregory Society and is on the Board of Directors of The World Conference of Mayors. She recently traveled to Cuba on a fact-finding mission. *Attorney Jesse Wineberry Sr. Co Founder, Washington Equity Now Alliance (WENA) comments on his organizations efforts to secure Reparations for Washington state's African Descendants of United States Chattel Slavery. He was an advocate for Japanese Reparations in the 1980's and lobbied the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) and gained the CBC's support for Japanese Reparations. He is now seeking to have Reparations for African Descendants in the Washington State Democratic Party Platform next week at their meeting in Spokane. The program has assisted over 1300 home buyers. *Congressman Emanuel Cleaver II (D)-5th Congressional District MO comments on the gerrymandering that is aimed at eliminating the seats of African American Members of Congress, primarily in southern states. His seat is also targeted. *Juan Peralez, president, UNIDOS of Snohomish County, the organization's focus has been on police accountability. He comments on their success the last legislative session with the support of Senator John Lovick (D)-44 LD when through the legislative process they were able to gain uniformity in police standards. *The following individuals discussed and offered solutions on fighting for and maintaining the voting rights of African Americans that were gained over 60 years ago when President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Voting Rights Act on August 7, 1965. He comments on MLKCC's plan for the anniversary of the June 17, 2015 murder of the Charleston Nine, during Bible Study at Mother Emanuel AME Church. *Carl Livingston, Senior Pastor, Kingdom Christian Center, is also a political science Professor, author, and community activist. He pays tribute to Charles Oliver an Assistant pastor at Kingdom Christian Center who passed away last month. Charles had been an activist beginning at Franklin High School. His service will be held Friday, May 15 at 11:00 am at Seattle's Greater Mount Baker Missionary Baptist Church, 2425 South Jackson Street, Seattle 98144. *Roger Evans, Co Founder, Washington State Black Legacy Institute-home to a growing visual and digital archive of Black History in Washington State. The facility is surrounded by wall portraits of pioneering figures such as Nettie Asberry, William Grose, and Susan Revels Cayton. Visitors can explore and produce digital copies of historical artifacts from across the state. * Dr. Marci Tate Arunga, former Dean, Tacoma Campus, Evergreen State College is the Featured Keynote Speaker for the 2026 Black Legacy Summit For Historic Preservation Hosted by Washington State Black Legacy Institute the event is Saturday, May 9 9:00 am-5:00 pm. Dr. Tate Arunga will speak at 12:00-1:30 pm. *Karen Vargas is Founder and Director of Living Life Leadership, a youth mentoring program with New Life Community Development Agency in Kitsap County.
