    A New Perspective

    Good morning, afternoon, and or evening depending on when you are reading this. Welcome back! Today I thought we would do something a bit different on the podcast. I currently am studying English on the track of Creative Writing with a concentration on poetry so, I thought I would present some of my recent work. Both works "Planchando Tortillas" & "Drunken, Whispered Stories" are two poems of my parents. Both were inspired from James Brown's short story "My Papa's Waltz" from his memoir The Los Angeles Diaries where he transforms an old event; one he found embarrassing, into a new and beautiful moment now, with his new perspective on things.     The Term Chicano

    Good Morning, Afternoon, and or Evening depending on when you are reading this. This is episode three! im really doing it y'all! I had received wonderful feedback that challenged me to view my decision on the title of the podcast a few weeks ago. I saw this as an opportunity where I could find out more about the community I was in and see if I should change the podcast name or not. upon researching, I found several reasons why this term would be considered exclusive, besides it being gendered.     New Year, New Me! Things to Leave Behind for this Upcoming Year

    Good morning, afternoon, and/or evening depending on when you are reading this. It is episode TWO! First and Foremost I would like to thank those of you who have supported the podcast and have been waiting for the next one. Here it is and I apologize for the delay.  The year is now 2020 and it is the peak for many individuals as they are developing and creating new year resolutions to better themselves. This is good but I was wondering how this could be applied to the culture itself. As much as I love the Mexican culture I have grown up with, I must admit there are a few aspects and ideas that I think should be left behind for the upcoming year. Machismo! This should have been left behind a long time ago! On this episode, I discuss my ideas on machismo and some experiences I have heard of from fellow friends. It is quite unfortunate that they could not be here to discuss their personal ideas and views on the topic as it would be ideal. Nonetheless, a broad overview of my personal observations are discussed regarding male toxicity.  Disclaimer: Some ideas and/or stories presented on this episode are controversial.     A Conversation About Identity

    Good morning, afternoon, or evening; depending on when you are listening. Thank you for joining  and listening to us discuss our personal experiences, opinions, and overall.... rants about identity issues within the Hispanic and Latino community. With me I have guests Jaqueline Jimenez and Jonas Hernandez who share their personal experiences where they tackled through an identity crisis. We discuss the many factors that contribute to identity issues within the community such as how someone from the community itself would attack another, sparking an identity crisis. We also discuss the idea of how "whiteness" is dangerously considered to be the representation of upward mobility since it suggests removing yourself from the culture. Finally, we discuss the Census and the lack of representation it has for our community. Below are some great articles in which I personally used as sources to help develop this episode.
