    Sermon: The Old Promise Feels New 11-22-20

    In this sermon, based on Ezekiel 34:11-16, 20-24, Pastor Scott explores the promise of God to be the shepherd for God's people. This good news also includes a rebuke, but ultimately reminds us that God is the one who will ultimately care for and provide for us. This is the assigned text for November 22nd, 2020, Christ the King Sunday.

    In this sermon, taken from Matthew 25:14-30, Pastor Scott explores the parable of the talents. This parable reveals the tendency to cling to a fear based need to produce or earn the favor of the master. The gospel teaches us something different. This is the assigned gospel text for November 15th, 2020, the 24th Sunday after Pentecost.

    Sermon: Scarcity 11-8-20

    In this sermon, based on Matthew 25:1-13, Pastor Scott explores the parable of the 10 bridesmaids. In this future tense parable, Jesus divides the bridesmaids into 2 groups. We look at the way they are divided, and begin to see that both groups are on opposite sides of the same issue of scarcity. This is the assigned gospel text for Sunday November 8th, 2020, the 23rd Sunday after Pentecost.

    Sermon: Be Prepared 11-1-20

    In this sermon, based on 1 John 3:1-3, Pastor Scott explores an odd little comment about being prepared for the resurrection, whatever that will look like. Pastor Scott unpacks this through the lens of All Saints Sunday, as we remember the blessed memory of those who have gone on before us. This is the assigned text for November 1st, 2020, All Saints Sunday.

    Sermon: Invitation Forward 10-25-20

    In this sermon, based on John 8:31-36, Pastor Scott explores the ongoing invitation of God to move forward, not backwards. This is in light of Reformation Sunday, as well as the interaction that Jesus has with individuals who place too much emphasis on their cultural identity rather than the identity God bestows upon all of us. This is the assigned text for October 25th, 2020, Reformation Sunday.
