    Our Restless Souls (Jim Ellis) | HEAR (September 13, 2026)

    In week five of our "HEAR" series, Pastor Jim Ellis unwraps the ultimate promise of Matthew 11:25–30: "You will find rest for your souls." Looking at the Kairos moments in our lives—pivotal times when God invites us into deep inner transformation—Jim connects Jesus' words directly back to Jeremiah 6:16. When we answer the call to come, take, and learn, we enter into a life-giving relationship that rescues us from our own striving. As Augustine famously noted, our hearts remain restless until they find rest in God. To hear from Him and experience His re-creation, we must be willing to pull into the "rest stops" along our journey and walk daily alongside Christ. Weekly Challenge: What does your next rest stop with Jesus look like?     The Unforced Rhythms of Grace (Jim Ellis) | Hear (September 6, 2026)

    In week four of our "HEAR" series, Pastor Jim Ellis explores the third active command in Matthew 11:28–30: "Learn from me." Unpacking the Greek root behind "learn"—which is deeply connected to being a disciple—Jim reminds us that we are created to be lifelong learners of Jesus. Following Christ isn't about arriving at complete perfection; it's about walking, working, and watching how Jesus lives so we can experience His unforced rhythms of grace in our daily lives. As disciples, we are challenged to slow down, find a quiet space, and sit with God to gain fresh understanding and build deeper trust in Him.     The Best Thing You Will Ever Do (Jim Ellis) | HEAR (August 30, 2026)

    In week three of our "HEAR" series, Pastor Jim Ellis explores the second part of Jesus' invitation in Matthew 11:28–30. Beyond the call to "come," Jesus gives a warm, urgent, and active challenge: "Take my yoke upon you." Looking at the Greek imperatives, Jim unpacks how a yoke binds us together with Christ and invites us into His way of living—a life marked by agape love for God, love for others, and stepping out in the Great Commission. While the "empire of me" often stands in the way, taking on Jesus' yoke isn't burdensome; it is a yoke of true freedom.     All of Life Is a Come-To-Jesus Moment (Jim Ellis) | HEAR (August 23, 2026)

    In week two of our series "Hear," Pastor Jim Ellis dives back into Matthew 11:25–30 to unpack a warm, urgent, and life-changing invitation from Jesus: "Come." While we often think of a "come to Jesus" moment as hitting rock bottom, Jim reminds us that all of life is meant to be an ongoing turning toward Him. Whether we are weary, distracted, or feel like we've failed, the Good Shepherd is constantly calling us out of our striving and back to our true home in Christ.     My Sheep Hear My Voice (Jim Ellis) | HEAR (August 16, 2026)

    Pastor Jim Ellis kicks off our brand-new short sermon series, "Hear," by diving into John 10:22–42 and Matthew 11:28–30 to answer two fundamental questions: Does God still speak to us today, and how do we know when it's Him? Jim reminds us that before we can clearly hear God's voice, we have to heed Jesus's invitation to "come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." By slowing down, resting in His gentle presence, and understanding our identity as His flock, we find the capacity to recognize our Good Shepherd's voice and follow His lead.     Enemy of God? (Jim Ellis) | One Three Nine (August 2, 2026)

    Concluding our summer series "One Three Nine," Pastor Jim Ellis tackles the final, challenging section of Psalm 139:19–24. While this Psalm is easy to love in its earlier verses, it takes a difficult turn as David uses strong language regarding his enemies and expressions of hate. Jim unpacks how these verses are descriptive of David's raw human emotions, rather than prescriptive for how we should live. Ultimately, David’s example teaches us to bring our most intense feelings honestly before God, exposing our hearts so we can release them to Him.
