Gilbert Mfitundinda grew up in southwestern Uganda. Through Compassion International, a stranger helped support his education. After college, while reflecting on 1 Corinthians 13, Gilbert felt God challenge him to consider what he could give others. His conclusion: little is enough when given with love. Gilbert and his brother Edward started Love Restoration and a Christian school with about 20 children and two staff members. Today, the school serves more than 340 children with more than 20 staff and is developing a larger campus. Gilbert shares lessons about sponsorship, giving, relationships, provision, and ministry growth—including why they slowed enrollment to build the systems and capacity needed to sustain the mission. His story is a reminder to start with what God has entrusted to you, be faithful with it, and leave the growth in His hands. KEY POINTS In this episode, Aaron and Gilbert talk about: How child sponsorship helped Gilbert stay in school and graduate from college. How 1 Corinthians 13 challenged him to ask what he could give others.Starting a Christian school with 20 children and two staff members. Why relationships matter beyond financial giving.Growing pains as the school expanded. Why they slowed enrollment to build capacity. An unexpected six-figure gift that moved construction forward. How Gilbert says the ministry has raised more than $1 million since 2018.The larger lesson: faithful stewardship of money, relationships, skills, and leadership can multiply far beyond one person. Jake Randall is the founder of Wild Freedom Financial Coaching. He helps people get practical control of their finances, but he also sees those coaching relationships as opportunities to live out his faith. Jake tells every new client that he follows Jesus and offers to begin future sessions with Scripture and prayer. To his surprise, most clients say yes—even many who would not call themselves Christians. In this conversation, Aaron and Jake share stories of people wrestling with identity, getting connected to church, preparing for baptism, changing old habits, and even deciding to follow God. The business provided the relationship. Jake kept showing up, serving people well, and allowing God to work through those relationships. For missionaries, ministry leaders, and Christian business owners, this episode challenges the idea that business and ministry have to live in separate worlds. KEY POINTS In this episode, Aaron and Jake talk about: Why the marketplace can be a mission fieldJake's decision to leave a stable corporate job and start Wild Freedom Financial CoachingHow financial coaching creates deep conversations about identity, relationships, beliefs, and purposeThe simple question Jake asks clients about Scripture and prayerA young woman who began attending church, planned to be baptized, and decided to quit smoking weed because she believed it was hurting her relationship with GodA financial coaching client who eventually told Jake, “I've decided to follow God”Why relationships often create opportunities for Gospel conversations that forced conversations cannotHow money can be stewarded as a tool for ministry rather than treated as something separate from missionThe larger lesson is simple: you do not have to choose between doing meaningful work and living on mission. That was one of Jake Randall’s first real experiences with missions. His first attempt was painfully awkward. But later in the trip, Jake met a man who told him he had been wanting to follow Christ—he just needed someone to explain what that meant. Jake didn’t feel qualified. He didn’t have the perfect words. The conversation even got interrupted when a seagull pooped on him. But Jake came back, opened his Bible, shared what he knew, and the man told him he was ready to follow Christ. In this episode, Aaron Jennings and Jake talk about how that experience shaped Jake’s understanding of evangelism, discipleship, missions, and what it means to support missionaries for the long haul. They also unpack why missionaries need more than money—they need people who will pray, encourage, visit, listen, and help them stay connected. KEY POINTS In this episode, Aaron and Jake talk about: Jake’s first evangelism trip to Chicago when he was about 15 years oldWhy getting started can matter more than feeling fully preparedThe painfully awkward question Jake asked a stranger about JesusMeeting a man who said he was already looking for someone to explain how to follow ChristLearning to take steps of faith while leaving the results to GodWhy discipleship should prepare people to disciple othersJake’s journey from short-term trips to becoming a missions senderHow “Timothy teams” help support missionaries through prayer, encouragement, housing, transportation, and connectionWhy encouragement trips can help missionaries feel understood and less isolatedHow one person can help create a stronger missions culture inside their own churchThe larger lesson is simple: you do not have to wait until you feel completely ready. He Had Never Spoken a Word—Then This Happened in India

In this episode, Aaron Jennings sits down with longtime pastor and ministry leader John Burpee, who has spent decades in ministry and says he has traveled to 37 nations doing healing crusades and ministry work. John recounts two stories from a trip to Andhra Pradesh, India. First, he shares about a young boy who had never spoken and whose family brought him back for prayer over three days. John says the boy eventually began speaking fluently. Later, two young people asked John and his wife, Nancy, to leave the meeting and pray for their grandmother, who John says was paralyzed and unable to speak. He describes watching her regain movement, stand, walk, and speak. But this conversation goes beyond the stories themselves. John talks about being saved while serving in the Air Force in the Philippines, watching God restore his marriage, and eventually spending decades pastoring, traveling, training leaders, and helping other ministers. He also shares practical lessons for anyone who wants to become more available to God: stay close to Jesus, spend time in Scripture, listen to the Holy Spirit, and be willing to follow God when an unexpected opportunity appears. KEY POINTSIn this episode, Aaron and John talk about: John’s journey from pastoring churches to ministry in 37 nationsThe boy in India who John says had never spoken before being brought for prayerWhy the family returned for prayer over three consecutive daysTwo young people who asked John and Nancy to pray for their paralyzed grandmotherJohn’s belief that the power belongs to God and ministers are simply available vesselsHow missionaries in the Philippines played a role in John and Nancy coming to ChristWhy intimacy with Jesus and time in Scripture matter more than trying to manufacture a ministry momentHow staying open to unexpected “divine appointments” can move ministry beyond the original planThe larger lesson is simple: availability matters. John’s stories are not presented as a formula for producing results. His emphasis is on staying close to Christ, listening to the Holy Spirit, and being willing to respond when God puts someone in front of you. Honduras, Hustle, and Kingdom Multiplication with Matt Hedstrom

In this episode of the Watch Missions Live Podcast, Aaron Jennings sits down with real estate investor and mission builder Matt Hedstrom to talk about what happens when calling meets stewardship. This isn’t about surviving in ministry. It’s about building missions that multiply. Matt shares how one short-term mission trip changed the trajectory of his life and led to building churches, trade schools, retreat centers, and sustainable Kingdom infrastructure across Honduras and beyond. From leading 6–8 international trips a year to partnering with national pastors in gang-controlled areas, Matt breaks down what it really looks like to combine business, systems, and missions for long-term Gospel impact. In This EpisodeHow Matt got started in missionsThe Honduras 100 project and why it exploded past 130 church buildingsWhy trade schools are helping fight unemployment, trafficking, and povertyThe importance of systems and stewardship in missionsWhy short-term mission trips still matterPowerful stories of God’s provision and obedience in actionHow missions can outlive the missionary One of the most powerful moments in the episode comes when a fun challenge between team members unexpectedly raises $1,400… only for the team to discover later that day it was the exact amount needed to finish the ceiling inside a marriage restoration retreat center in Honduras. Not hype. Not coincidence. Just ordinary obedience creating Kingdom impact. Matt also shares how a Hindu business owner on the trip began questioning everything after witnessing believers serve, sacrifice, and work together with joy and purpose. This episode is a reminder that prayer and stewardship belong together. Calling matters. Faith matters. But structure matters too. Healthy missions are built to multiply beyond one person. Key Takeaway“Calling without structure stays small.” This episode is a powerful reminder that faith and stewardship belong together. Prayer matters. Obedience matters. But systems matter too.
